Of course, Matty and his incessant surprises made an appearance again. I did unfortunately really want to see him, so I began getting ready for whatever this meeting was.

Before I knew it, 3:30 rolled around and since I had absolutely no clue how to use the subway, I decided to leave early. The glances from middle aged men somehow didn't make me feel any less nervous for the events that were about to unfold.

When I got off the subway, a gorgeous Matty was waiting patiently for me while reading a novel, which looked to be by some philosopher. His hair was messy, but he was wearing a lovely black jumper and of course, black jeans. He saw me and looked up, closing his book.

"You look lovely for someone who is probably still hungover" he whispered in my ear before pulling me in for a hug.

"Good to see you too Matthew." I giddily said back.

Matty and I walked to his place, making small talk about what he was reading, music, and telling childhood stories. Somehow it came up that I had never played chess and for some reason he was now determined to teach me.

After pulling out an old wooden chessboard, and pouring us both some liquor to drink, Matty attempted to teach me this boring game. After about half an hour of me pathetically losing, and getting frustrated by how attractive he looks when he's focussed, I decided we should just listen to music and have a conversation. After putting on some r&b, I became aware of just how intoxicated I now was.

Matty began yammering on about how in my sleep last night I had said all this rubbish about my ex which was odd. But after a few minutes of that, I suddenly felt quite nauseous, and ran to the bathroom before I ruined his beautiful apartment.

Being the gentleman he is, he rushed to grab a glass of water and followed me to the bathroom, holding my hair back while I threw up. The lack of food I had consumed before the alcohol was probably the reasoning for that.

"I'm so sorry for that." I muttered shyly.

"Don't apologize, I care about you, it's not a problem." He said sweetly.

"Do you want to go outside and have a smoke?" I asked. Secretly, I was the one who wanted one to ease my now apparent nerves.

"Of course." He said wearily.

His balcony had a panoramic view of the city, it was surreal.

After our short smoke break, we went back inside and ended up just laying on his bed listening to music. Our hands kept touching as we lay there talking and it was taking all of my strength to leave the situation at that, but I had decided I was ready to down some more wine, so my mind was frantically trying to stop thinking about the tension.

I started drawing patterns on his palm with my finger and it made him laugh. He had a stunning laugh, it made his eyes light up and the rest of his face crinkle in happiness. We sat up and he rested his hand on my thigh.

"Are we going to talk about last night?" He questioned, suddenly making everything feel more serious.

"I kind of thought we already did, at least about the parts that matter." I stated matter-of-factly.

"You know what I'm talking about, Tris, you know I want you, right?" He asked so nonchalantly.

"It makes it a little bit confusing when you never let things go very far, I don't know what to think Matty." I replied.

"Babe, I wasn't about to shag you in a dirty club bathroom after you almost just fucked someone else. My ill-timed thoughts just slipped out. I want things to be right. I have to exercise my self-control a lot more often than you would think." This boy was driving me wild. I had no clue how to respond to that.
