// Eyes bright uptight just girls //

After reading Matty's text and accidentally falling asleep before I had the chance to reply, the sound of my alarm at the wonderful time of five o'clock am blasted in my ears. Not to mention I had a pounding headache and felt like actual shit. I didn't drink too often, so hangover cures were foreign to me, so I grabbed my phone and started writing a text to Matty.

To: Matty

Any quick hangover cures Matty? My head is pounding.

Tris

Before I even got out of bed, much to my surprise, there was already a reply

From: Matty

I usually cure my hangovers by excessive drinking and a cigarette but I've heard some Advil and water will do the trick just fine. Hope you feel better.

Matty xx

As I put my phone on the charger and examined the post-drinking breakouts I would be facing that day, I heard a quiet knock on my door. Looking absentmindedly through the peephole, I was relieved to see that it was Katrina and not Ross. After I let her in, she began rambling on about how stupid Ross and I's fight was, and how we should just get over it.

"Katrina, you know you're my best friend, but if you really came here just to criticize my barely surviving relationship I'd really prefer if you left." I said.

"Actually I came here to see if you had any advil, I work up with the worst migraine ever." She replied.

"Heavy drinking last night or something? But yeah I do one sec."

"I actually was drinking, but only a little, with Ross and Lily."

Lily was just about my least favorite person I know. She has been trying to ruin my life since grade school and only seemed to give up recently, which didn't make her drinking hangout with my bestfriend and my sorta ex boyfriend any more reassuring.

"Lily. What a lovely choice." I tried to mutter under my breath.

"She's not even half bad, plus she likes you now! You have to give her a chance!"

"Until I have a psychotic break, I think I'll have to pass on that one. Here's your Advil, thanks yet again for your words of wisdom." I said sarcastically.

"Bye Tris I'll see you at breakfast."

The strangest part about what I had found out during that conversation was that I didn't feel any jealousy towards either of the girls for hanging out with Ross. It almost made me happy to think he could possibly be moving on.

After I finished getting ready, I decided I was going to stay as far away from Ross and Katrina as possible to avoid Lily. I popped my headphones in and tried my best to ignore everyone around me. After a short ride on the subway, we had finally arrived at some small looking diner where we would be eating breakfast. It had been featured on Seinfeld or something I think. Right as we were going in to the restaurant, I accidentally bumped in to a boy wearing all black who was smoking a cigarette.

"Fancy seeing you here Tris. Try to be a little less distracted next time, if you weren't lucky enough to bump in to a nice bloke like me, you might get jumped or something."

Matty. Of course I would bump in to Matty. My ego was still slightly bruised from his action which was basically rejection from last night, but I was also glad to see him.

"Matty it's like 7 in the morning, shouldn't you be asleep anyways?"

"Clearly not if I'm right here right now love."

"Well I have to get going, as you can see I'm about to eat breakfast." I said while trying to walk away.

"Good thing I was just about to do the same." Matty replied, while opening the door for me and leading me to a table.

"You would find a way to be a part of a high school trip to New York, wouldn't you?"

"I have a weak spot for girls with massive crushes on me." He joked.

I just rolled my eyes and tried to laugh at that comment.

Matty was being quite pleasant during breakfast, trying to make me laugh constantly. He even did the most lame thing of all, putting straws in his nose like a walrus. This boy was full of surprises.

My thoughts started to wander off thinking about Matty but then his voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Hey Tris I think your group is leaving the diner now, you should probably catch up with them." He said with a blank look on his face.

After I payed for my breakfast, Matty lead me out of the diner and once I said goodbye Matty looked me straight in the eye and said, "I'll see you later, that's a promise." And quickly kissed me on the cheek. It's like his entire life goal was to drive me insane. Speaking of insane, I had agreed with Ross to change our "special night out" to tomorrow night. Although I was nervous, I knew there was one person who could ease my mind. Matty.
