"Christina."

You pat her back slowly. She had stopped crying about an hour ago and was just sitting there silently with her head on her knees.

There was silence by the door and you have assumed that the undead senior students have now gone away. Or at least you hope so.

"We have to go," you urged her.

Still she didn't move or make any sound. Finally she raised her head and stared at you with her red rimmed eyes.

"Hey," you ran a hand through her hair, trying to soothe the younger girl.

She blinked and shook her head, "I can't Y/N."

"What?"

"You go, but I'll stay here," she said.

"No! We're going to get out of here. Don't you want to see your parents again?" you panic slightly as she shook her head sadly.

"We're gonna die out there. They might be dead already you know." She sobbed again. "There's nothing left anymore."

"Hey-"

"No, no! Just go Y/N. But I swear you'll just end up like them. Leave me here, it's safe here. They won't get me if I stay here." There was vehemence in her voice as she said this, as if she were trying to convince herself of what she was saying.

You don't know what to say, you have to go now while there's still chance and it's still midday.

"Please 'Tina," you pleaded.

You see her resolve breaking for a bit but she shook her head, "If you don't go now I'll scream and bring them here again."

You didn't understand why she had to be so stubborn about this but you nod your head, afraid that the girl would totally lose it and start screaming. You feel her building hysteria and it you try to shut out the thoughts that make you want to start panicking too. You're surprised at the level-headedness that you're outwardly showing. It was all too easy to see yourself hunched up and crying like this girl but instead you're somehow numb. It's the shock, you think.

You walk quietly towards the mirror and unplugged the charger. You put the battery back on your phone and turned it off. After that you put it on silent mode.

You walk towards Christina to give back the charger but she shook her head, "Keep it."

She hesitated then removed her wrist watch. It was a black swatch. "Here, take this too. A remembrance from a new friend."

She insisted when you shook your head to decline. You smiled sadly at her as you took her 'gifts'. Maybe you can convince Gino to go with you and get her later. Although she had already made her decision she didn't deserve to be left alone like this.

"You can try the library, there's more signal there," she said. You nodded and stepped towards her to engulf her in a hug.

"Stay safe," she whispered.

"You too."

You secure your backpack once more and proceeded towards the door. You opened it and peeked outside. Nothing.

You give the girl one more glance before quietly slipping out the door. Christina had her head bent down again.

The library it is then. That was located on the second floor and was also near your locker.

You ready yourself and wish your knife was a bit longer since you have to get really close to be able to cut those monsters down.

You ran down the end of the corridor and into the stairs. You dodged a zombie on the landing and continued all the way to the second floor. A lot of zombies littered on the floor. They were just lying there but their limbs were still moving and stuff.

You thought there weren't any walking in this floor but apparently that was due to the fact that they weren't walking but crawling. The two corridors intersecting the one with the library were different matter though. There were silhouettes of walking undead there.

You shiver inwardly, your locker was on the other corridor.

You walked slightly bent and avoided those crawling. One grabbed at your foot but you viciously cut through his wrist. Your movements and the groans seem to attract them so you hurry and made a dash for the library door.

You realize too late that you should've checked first whether there were movements inside but with the incoming walking undead you think no more and just entered through the library door.
