You would have screamed had somebody not clamped their hand shut on your mouth. There was a hand on yours which had pulled back the door shut since you have opened it just a bit. You weren't able to see anyone in that split second but you were able to see the mess the room was in before whoever was behind you closed it and prevented you from screaming.

"Don't make a sound you blockhead." You made an indignant noise at that which in turn made the male voice hiss, "I just told you not to make a sound."

"Let her go boy." You hear another voice say, somewhat farther behind. From his voice, he was the one who had told you that opening the door wasn't a good thing.

"Okay, just don't you go screaming alright? Nod your head and I'll let you go." The voice behind you said.

You nodded slowly as he pulled you away from the door and let go of your mouth.

You turned to face them and furrowed your brow when you finally identified them. A sophomore student and Mr. Manuel, the school's utility man.

What an odd pair to be seen here. The boy she knew by face since the school wasn't that big and Mr. Manuel was always seen about inside the school premises fixing equipments and stuff.

"Oh, it's you." The boy said in a deadpan voice. He then proceeded to go to open the cabinets in the wet area and rummaged in the medicine cabinet. Mr. Manuel however had taken a seat on one of the couches.

"What do you mean by that?" you mutter. "What's going on anyway? And what-who's in there?" you point towards the door to the isolation room.

Mr. Manuel had both his hands on his bowed head and in the silence you could hear the gentle whir of the air conditioner, the boy's rummaging and the distant groaning on the other side of the closed door. Wait, what-?

"There really is somebody there, we have to help them."

"You can't be serious Y/N," Mr. Manuel said softly.

"Yeah, where were you the past few hours, under a rock or something?" The boy emerged from the wet area holding what seemed to be bandages, antiseptic and medicine.

"I was sleeping in there," you point to the room where you woke up. "I think I got hit by a ball or something yesterday. Didn't you see?"

"Uh, no. But I did hear some clutz got in an accident and was brought here." He frowned and walked towards Mr. Manuel.

"Oh, and open that door and I swear you're dead." He added darkly.

You opened your mouth to give a retort but gasped as Mr. Manuel straightened in his seat. There was a large amount of blood on his side. There was a gash and you could see the bleeding tissues through the torn fabric.

"What happened?" you rushed to the older man's side and helped him ease the shirt from his body. Now is certainly not the time for modesty.

"We were running," The boy explained as he cleaned the wound.

"Well I suggest people refrain from doing that, it seems to cause a lot of accidents," you gave a nervous chuckle.

The other student gave you a dark look, and you glared right back. What was his problem?

"You haven't been out there. There's no other option but to run. It's run fast or you die."

"What is wrong with you? Why'd you keep on threatening me?" you ask indignantly as you took the glass of water from the counter and gave it to Mr. Manuel to drink with the pain killer.

"Gino's right Y/N. But what he said doesn't just apply to you but to us as well," Mr. Manuel said with a grimace after downing the glass. "Well to continue his short story, this ol' man fell from the crack on the fourth floor."

So the brat's name is Gino huh? You glared at him again when he came back from the doctor's office carrying a clean shirt and some packet of crackers.

"Hey, why'd you take that? Doctor Vicky's gonna be mad at you. You're so gonna get in trouble."

"Stupid, that's the least of my worries."

You helped Gino bind the wound. His hands were efficient you noticed, "Where'd you learn this?"

"Red cross," he mumbled. Oh, figures.

The end product wasn't that pretty but it did the work and got the wound padded and got the bleeding to stem. You helped Mr. Manuel into the clean shirt and bundled his torn one. You threw it on the trash bin beside the desk.

Suddenly it occurred to you to ask, "Wait, where's the nurse anyway?"

Gino looked nervously over his shoulder towards the isolation room where the creepy sounds that you're trying to ignore are coming from.

"Probably in there."

You were sitting on the couch eating the cracker Gino had handed you earlier. He's sitting on the seat next to you while Mr. Manuel was dosing opposite you.

"I have to get my bag and go home." You said.

"Were you even listening to what I've been saying?" Gino hissed.

"You're crazy!" You snapped but lowered your voice when you noticed Mr. Manuel stirring a bit. The man needed his rest. He refused sleeping on the bed on the other room.

"Anyway, even all that crazy talk were true I have to make sure my parents know I'm fine and then they can get me from here."

Gino only shook his head at that but said, "Fine, go look for your bag but don't blame me if something happens to you. And make sure you go down quietly when they get you."

"Fine! You-brat!" You hissed back and stood fromyour seat. Like you would stay here and believe him anyway. It was Saturdaytoday and you should have been already at home, like yesterday. Better get up and call somebody to pick you up.
