I wake up with the sound of the door opening. All my body hurts, I can't move and I can't open my eyes. Hangovers. All the same, always there after a night full of fun and I never regret of having them, almost killing me. If you have a hangover it's a sight of a good night. That is what I've learn after nine years of booze, drugs and parties. So rebel of me.
I hear some footsteps coming in my direction. The sound of heavy boots cracking on the mosaic floor makes my head hurt like a bitch. I yelp and roll over, crashing on the floor."Effy, are you ok?" I hear Sally asking and trying to not laugh at my figure on the floor.
I stand up and I slowly open my eyes. I look down to my lap and notice that I'm still wearing last night clothes. I don't really remember how I arrived here, but I didn't bother to take off my shoes and jacket. I probably just got in the apartment and automatically crashed over on the couch. This is not the first time that this happens. I look up to Sally and she has a bouquet of flowers on her hands. I don't even mind to decipher which type they are. They are probably from Alex and now she came over here to rub it on my face and say See? He is good and really sweet. He gave me these. I love him and I think he loves me back. I'm not in the mood for that.
I lean my back against the couch and push my head back, resting it on the couch seat and I sight, hopping that the headache passes.
"How was your date?" I ask her, closing my eyes. She sits on the couch beside my head.
"It was amazing." She says excited. I really don't want details. I wanna keep the vomit for later. "And I can say by your state that your night was pretty interesting." She grins.
"Yeah, it was." I say. I don't remember half of the night. After I gave them my address I remember nothing. Wait, what? I gave them what? Oh, whatever. We probably just talked a lot and drank a lot. "Are they from Alex?" I ask her.
"What? The flowers? No. I found them by your door. It has a card." She said. Oh, ok. Cool, someone gave me flowers. Good, I don't really care. All I care right now, is that this stupid headache stops. "They are your favorites, orchids. Do you want me to read you the card?" She asks and I nod. "I would not wish any companion in the world but you - William Shakespeare" She said. Beautiful quote. I take off my high wheels and set up onto my feet. I head to the bathroom and I hear Sally's voice behind me. "Hey, where are you going?"
I open the bathroom's cabinet beside the mirror and take off two tablets. I put them into my mouth and drink some water from the sink. I look at the mirror and I look a mess. I'm not impressed.
I look at the door and I see Sally leaned against the doorframe. "Do you know who sent you those?" She asks, talking about the flowers. I shake my head in deny. Maybe I know, I just can't think straight right now.
"I gonna take a shower, wait for me in the living room" I say with hoarse voice. It hurts talking. She nods, turning around and closing the door quietly to avoid making a loud noise. I take off my clothes and I step into the bath tub to take a quick long shower.
The warm water sliding through my body down is taking the hangover and the rough night off of me. It feels really good. My head stops hurting and I get out of the bath tub, wrapping a towel around my body. I get out of the bathroom and I go to the living room.
Sally is sat down on the couch listening to Aerosmith. I sit beside her and smile.
"Feeling better?" She asks, lightning up a cigarette.
"Much better." I smirk. "So, the date..." I really don't like to talk about Alex but I have to now what happed last nigh. And now I'm much more in the mood for it.
"It was nice, you know..." She blows out the smoke. "He took me to a nice restaurant, we talked, drank some wine and stuff..." She says, not elaborating very much.
