Dear Austin,

I ask you to please stop reading and give this to the girl who is loving you after me. Respect me, please, I don't want to break your heart like you broke mine. Hand her the letter. Now.. Please?

I hope this is you, mystery girl who has stolen the love of my life. I'm not writing this letter to offend you, or as a hope to win him back. I am writing this because I see the happiness you bring him, and I want you to keep doing that.

There's a few things he probably hasn't told you and probably never will, like how at night he needs you to sleep facing into him rather than away. He has a phobia of losing you. And that sometimes during the night he has bad nightmares and wakes up drenched in sweat. You'll already be awake because you'll hear his screams. Make sure not to leave to get him anything. If he wakes up with you gone, he'll believe he's living in his nightmare and it'll be ten times harder to get him to know you are real.

He will tell you he's okay even in his darkest times, and you have to believe him because he's not good with communication. He's terrified to show you his feelings. He's scared that if you see how fucked up he is inside, you won't love him. As bad as he thinks he is, you and I both know he's pure good.

On holidays when you want to spend time with your family, make sure you remember he has a family too. Don't make him choose. He'll choose you and you'll regret it. On Christmas eve, make sure you have a small gift to give him, and make sure it's something funny. He'll joke and pretend to give you coal each Christmas morning because of your "naughty" behavior. His real gift will have your jaw dropping.

Spring break is his favorite time of the year and darling please don't stop him when he wants to go to those parties at the beach because you're afraid he might find a girl better than you for the night. You'll see just how childish you were acting when he doesn't come home at all.

If he starts distancing himself from you, change it. Text him a million times. Tell him you love him and you can't lose him. Tell him he matters. Show him you are there. He's not looking for someone who's only looking out for their own heart. He wants someone who will look out for his too.

Be kind to him if he tells you he needs his space. He'll come back. Even if you don't think he won't, he will.

If he tells you it's over, fight for him.

Tell him no it's not.

Yell until he's grabbing your face and tears are pouring out of his eyes and your sobbing harder than you've ever sobbed before.

Most of all, just keep him. He's so, so, so good. I'm jealous of you if I have to be honest. There was a time when your name wasn't important. When it was just him and I. Sometimes I wish you never came. Sometimes I pray you go away. But most times I just hope you stay.

He's truly happy.

A happy no one has seen.

I am happy for you two.

A happy no one has ever seen.
