"What did your dad say?" Austin asks me as we walk down the windy sidewalk of the park. I grip onto his arm a little tighter as I recall the conversation I had with my father just before meeting up with him. It wasn't really a conversation. It was honestly a screaming match because I told him I not going to college.
"He uh.. He practically lost it.." I patter as Pancho, Austin's new puppy takes off running to catch a frisbee a man threw off in the distance, making both him and I pick up our pace. I laugh as I realize Austin wasn't even paying attention to his pet causing him to get away. Once he gets a good grip on the leash again, he pulls the little dog back into a comfortable walking speed. "What are you gonna do now?" He asks me. I let out a sigh of frustration. "That's just it, I don't know what I'm going to do! If I don't go, I'll be disowned, but if I do, I won't get an amazing opportunity like this again.."
It's true. As a writer I've always dreamed of working in the high fashioned magazine known as Teen Vogue. People have been applying for this job for months with college degrees and multiple connections and here I am with nothing and I get the job handed to me. "It's not possible to turn it down, I just don't know how to get around the part of not having anything but this job. I mean where am I supposed to stay? How will I get food? I literally have nothing.."
My rant stops as Austin stops walking. His eyes meet mine with sincerity, but his face is worrisome. "You have me."
I feel something lift off my shoulders as I hear that. A simple statement like that actually gives me hope that I haven't made the wrong decision.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yes, of course. Always.. You can come and stay with me if your father kicks you out. Your life isn't over (Y/N). It's just getting started. If he can't see how good this is for you, he'll regret it later on in the future. You're a brilliant writer and this is your dream. Live your dream."
My heart feels a perk of excitement unravel at his words. I can't help but smile.
"I love you so much, Austin. Thank you."
He smiles back at me which of course causes me to hug him with all my passion. He's literally one of the best things in blessed with and I don't know what I would do without him..
