Why don't I run ? Escaping is usually the solution in which a prey gets away from its hunter. Or in my case escaping the horrors of being the monsters mate. There are hundreds of stories from he's actions and the many destructions he has caused.

After the ceremony we were expected to return to our bedroom and so whatever, but firstly we didn't have a joined bedroom and secondly ? There was no way I was sharing a bed with him, nevermind a room. He had ordered he's guards to escort back to the room I had once woke up in.

"One day, maybe just maybe. We'll find out we actually are each other's mates, when the time comes of course." I smiled at the grey eyed girl sitting in front of me,sitting the edge of the the lake.

"I'd really like that, much better than being with somebody who doesn't treat me right or is just bad." I looked down worried at the water slowly flowing of my feet, feeling her fingers slip under my chin making me face her.

"I promise you. Right here, right now that even we are not each other's mates, I will make sure nobody treats you wrong." I smiled, my eyes fluttering close slowly leaning into her.

The memory was ripped from me when I body was harshly dragged from the bed, my body heavily hitting the floor. My head jerked to the side, looking at the person who had done that but I already knew. My mark started tingling with sparks and a sudden sensation rushed through my body at he's presence.

"Quit with those thoughts ! You are mine now I do not wish for you to keep going back to your actions !" He's powerful voice roared right at me, making me shake in fear slowly pushing away from him until my back hit a wall.

He stomped towards me wrapping he's fingers around my neck, pulling up to my feet. Soon the pressure in my head increased becoming unbareable as my body begged for air, my claws digging into he's hand. But he's grip only tightened until the door burst open, when I have already seeing black spots dancing around my vision.

"Take him away, now ! I'll take care of the girl. Go !" A voice shouted in the distance, my body crumbled on the floor roughly gasping for air.

A hand rested on my shoulder, not being able to see who it belonged to. I got lifted up a pair of arms securing my steadiness, walking me down the halls.

"Ophelia, I am doctor Mullins. The pack doctor, how are you feeling ?" I stared into space not saying a word as he continued to check my bruises and cuts.

"You can talk to me, if you'd like. I'm sorry what is happening between you and my Alpha, that is not the way mates should be treated. But he has he's reasons." He's last sentence was laced with sadness but I remained silent, my eyes following he's actions.

"I've been this pack doctor for years, I even brought Nathaniel himself into this world. He hasn't always been like this, you know ? I was hoping finding he's mate would bring him back." I stared right into my eyes, as if searching for something. But I simply nodded understanding.

"Your room will be moved, give you more comfort." He smiled warmly at me, sparking something inside me. Comfort perhaps, knowing that someone in this house really does have a heart.

My mind kept turning back to Maya, oh how I struggled to keep a perfect image of her so I wouldn't forget her. I'd go over her every feature in my head a thousand times, but every time I did. It hurt even more, my scars covering my body. Scars that damaged me emotionally, my body just hurt.

I had slept for days, didn't eat for weeks. The only thing that entertained me was the library attached my bedroom, filled with books from top to bottom.

Until my mate stumbled into my room.
