Wandering along the hallway back to my room, I lose myself in the thoughts of the conversation I just had. It was definitely the most interesting one I have taken part in for a long time, possibly ever. It was also the most confusing.

Heaven and Hell? Possessing people? What kind of fucked up world had I been living in, so completely obliviously? I shake my head at my cluelessness as I creak open the heavy door to my room.

Walking straight towards the direction of my closet, which shelves a growing pile of clothes I have acquired during my 'stay' here. Grabbing the hem of my shirt and pulling upwards to take it off, a subtle cough from behind me halts my movements.

Spinning around, I go to let out a small shriek of surprise, but the dark figure I barely got a glimpse of, has already disappeared from sight. Looking around frantically for the mysterious intruder, I think of calling out for Luke, but remember that he was most likely angry with me from my bombardment of questions.

Deciding that being a kid about the situation an hiding under the duvet of my bed is the best option, I make a sprint for it to my bed, when the figure appears again. This time it uses it's large hands to cover my mouth before I could scream. A grinning face looms closely towards mine, using the hand that wasn't covering my mouth to press a finger to his lips, gesturing me to be silent.

He removes his hand once I am sure that I won't scream, and gives me a small smile. Immediately I throw my arms around his neck and pull him towards me in a tight embrace. I close my eyes, "Ashton," I breathe out his name.

"Hey, Eve." He whispers, his warm breath blowing onto the bare spot where my shoulder and neck meet.

"What are you doing here?" I whisper-shout, pulling away from the tight embrace "Luke will kill you if he finds you in here- literally!"

"That doesn't matter right now, I just had to make sure you were okay." Ashton's hazel eyes rake my face in, searching for ant sign of harm.

"Why wouldn't I be okay?" I ask confusedly. Something must have happened, I think, he wouldn't have started talking to me again after a week of ignoring me for nothing. "Ashton, what's going on? Why is everyone acting so strangely?" I ask seriously. Despite the fact that I had only known him for a week, and spoken with him for what would be less than two or three hours in total, I already trusted him more than people that I had known for years.

Ashton's eyes flickered around the room, never settling on anything for more than a few seconds, telling me that he was trying to avoid eye contact. He doesn't want to tell me, I realise. Something big was going on, and I was determined to find out.

"Nothing!" Ashton replies too quickly, "Nothing's going on Eve! Can't I just check on one of my friends and make sure they're okay?" My eyebrows quirk up, and I feel myself getting more frustrated.

"There is nothing suspicious at all about you checking on me... except for the fact that you have been ignoring me the past week, and that you refuse to make eye contact with me! Like that!" I sass, pointing at him when his eyes flash to my face and away again just as quickly.

Ashton finally looks at me, biting his bottom lip anxiously. "Eve, I wish I could tell you, I really do, but I can't. I have specific orders not to tell you, and Luke already has enough reasons in his mind to kill me, so I don't need any more reasons to make my death any slower." I gawk at the bluntness of his statement. How could he be so, I don't know... calm about his own demise?

But I couldn't ask him to tell me, no matter how much the need to know burnt away in me. He was right; Luke would kill him without hesitation, I had already almost been a witness to that. Ashton watched me, a saddened look in his eyes. Why did it look like he wasn't sad about his own death, rather that he pitied me?

The burning curiosity inside of me grew, but I couldn't ask Ashton to risk his life for me any further. "Ashton, you would tell me if it was my problem, right?"

He shot me a small smile and nodded his head. "Of course, Eve." He glanced towards the door, biting his lip anxiously. I nudge him towards the door, telling him to leave before Luke found him. "I'll talk to you soon, Eve."

"Just don't ignore me anymore, okay?"

"As you wish, My Queen."

"Oh, shut up."
