My fork scraped along the plate, echoing in the strained silence of the dining room. I was sitting at the giant table once more, having a very quiet and very tense meal with Luke. He had yet to say anything to me since our reappearance back in the familiar hallway, and his sudden muteness had me worried.

When he was yelling I could handle it, I knew what he was thinking then, but when he was silent...that's when he was most unpredictable. I didn't like it when he was quiet.

"Aren't you going to ask me how I spoke to you without actually being next to you?" Luke suddenly asked, placing his fork down onto the plate with a clang. I slowly look up to meet his cerulean eyes, biting my lip gently in confusion.

"I didn't think you would tell me, I kind of just assumed that it was a 'King of Hell' benefit thing." I mumbled, and continued more confidently, "You seem to have a lot of those, if I do say so."

Luke simply nods his head and picks his fork up again. Spearing a piece of meat and placing it in his mouth slowly, he watches me whilst chewing slowly. I raise my eyebrow and snap, "So, are you going to tell me or not?"

"No."

"Then why bring it up in the first place?"

A small smile cracks onto Luke's face, and suddenly I can see how young he really is. The crinkles in his nose when he smiles, how perfectly straight his teeth are, and the way his blonde hair swoops- all of this I was unable to see. I had never tried to look past the almost-permanent scowl on his face.

Luke snaps his fingers in front of my face, snapping me from my wandering thoughts and blatant staring. "You alright there, Eve?" He says with a chuckle, causing me to blush. "You kind of zoned out whilst staring at me. I mean, completely understandable because I am gorgeous and everything, but I was getting concerned when you started drooling."

I let out an indignant scoff, "I was not drooling, and you're exaggerating."

"So you admit you were staring then?"

"No!" I hang my head into my hands, trying to cover the red that was surely coloring my face. "Damn it, stop changing the topic! Just tell me how I could here you even though you were miles from me!"

Luke sits back in his chair, his long fingers now grasping a small glass of wine in his hand. He swirls the dark liquid around a few times before taking a small sip. I roll my eyes at his dramatic antics- I could almost guarantee that he was more of a diva than Beyoncé right now. "What do you have to offer that could make me want to tell you?"

"I don't know... What do you want?" His eyes glint at me cheekily, and I immediately amend my sentence. "Nothing sexual, you dirty pig." Luke lets out a laugh, and snaps his fingers comically.

"Damn, there goes my plan." He chortles. I roll my eyes again, but inwardly thankful that he seems to have forgotten about my recent escape attempt. He leans forward suddenly, and stares at me deeply, holding my gaze. "There is one thing that I want."

I nod my head, gesturing for him to continue. "I want to ask you a question, and I want a truthful answer."

"It depends on what you're asking." I say slowly, suddenly wary. He nods his head in understanding. "I'm not going to just go and spill all my darkest secrets to some random dude that kidnapped me."

I am very aware that I am treading a fine line here- if I just happen to take a step out of line, say one wrong thing and Luke's good mood is going. If Luke was in a brooding mood I would never get any answers from him.

"Okay, how about a compromise?" He suggests. "You tell me what I want to know, and I'll tell you what you want to know. Within reason, of course."
