Chapter 17

"So, do you really think this will work?" Riker asked after I had explained the plan.

"Yeah it will. All they will think of it as is Ross stopping by for a visit to chat with his old coworker and her new husband."

"So three people are sneaking in the back door and try not to get caught?" Ross asked.

"No, Bri will be with you. Just say you had to give her a ride somewhere but she decided to come with you to talk to Maia. That way you can keep both of them in the room. Me and Riker will sneak in the basement door where I think I remember Lucas's office was at."

"Why us two?" Riker asked.

"Uhm because he has nothing to do with you and I have an idea of what to look for." I replied as I stopped the car.

"Why so far away?" Ross asked.

"Why all the questions from you boys? If we go in the driveway they will see four people getting out." I pointed at the wood line. "Me and Riker will go through there to get to the house. Ross, you're going to take the wheel and drive there. I will give you a call and pretend I need a ride because your car broke down. Meet us exactly here, got it?"

"Yeah, I got it."

Riker and I both got out of the car and started walking in the woods. It was kind of a long walk so I wasn't surprised when Riker tried making conversation.

"Are those heels?" He asked.

I looked down, "Uh...yea they are. No matter the circumstances when you're a S.A. you have to dress nice for some reason."

"Aren't they uncomfortable?"

"Actually they were specialized by the agency to where you literally do anything in them and they feel just like tennis shoes. Actually when I was little, I always watched movies where the girl was wearing heels and I always questioned it because they couldn't run. Well, now heels is almost an everyday thing. Plus, the heel parts are also knives."

Riker suddenly stopped and looked at me, "No way!"

I laughed at him, "Shhh..."

After a few minutes we reached the house and Ross was already here. We ran to the back and Riker went to open the back door. "It's locked."

I rolled my eyes in frustration. "Figures." I went to the window and was able to lift that open easily. "What's a secured house with no window locks?" I said smirking in Riker's direction.

I climbed through and opened the door for Riker. We went down the hall to where Lucas' office was. As soon as we got in, we looked everywhere for anything.

After five minutes, Riker sighed. "What are we looking for anyway?"

"Addresses, phone numbers, just any evidence that they've been in contact with Derek or Mia."

"Wait, shouldn't they be on their honeymoon?"

"No, they decided to be an odd couple and go on a honeymoon before the wedding. Some friends of Maia's had tickets to go on a cruise for a week."

"Okay, well I gotta pee."

I looked up at him, "You know, you are just like a kid. Go outside near the woods."

He nodded his head and left the room. I moved a piece of paper over the desk when the laptop lit up. "What the fuck?"

The wallpaper was Maia and Luke when they went on the cruise and right beside them was Derek and Mia???? I quickly connected my phone to the computer and downloaded the photo. As I was putting the phone away, I heard a voice.

"Well looky here." I jumped up and saw Lucas standing at the door. He tilted his head to the side. "You know, it isn't nice going through other people's things."

I stood my ground, not feeling intimidated by him at all. "Where are they staying Lucas?"

He smirks, "Strong one. Hmm, I see why Derek loves you so much." He moved closer to me, " You know, for a pregnant woman you sure know how to make yourself look good." He looked me up and down.

I backed up, "That may be so, but I'm not here for chit chat." I started looking again, not giving a damn that he was there.

"Yeah, you're here to get clues to find your son."

"Exactly, so either help me, get out, or kill me. Well, try to kill me." I said moving closer to him, showing him my point.

He took a breath, "In the last drawer, on the right. There's a false bottom and it contains the address, number, places they go to, and a pistol. Go crazy, I won't stop you."

I went to the drawer and opened it. I lifted the false bottom and grabbed the things I needed. I
looked at the gun and took the clip out and took the bullet out the chamber before placing the gun back down. "Thank you."

"I'm not doing it for you. Last night, he threatened Maia because she got second thoughts on keeping Romeo away from you. I won't help you anymore, considering it is my brother, but I won't be with him either. Now get out of my house."

I nodded my head, "Will do."

I walked out of the basement and met Riker outside. "For an awesome actor, your brother is surely the shittiest decoy."

"Wait, you got caught? Why did he let you get away and with the information?"

"He doesn't want to be included with this anymore." I said as we started walking through the woods to where we would meet up with Ross and Bri and I sent a text instead.

*third person*

Ross and Bri walked towards the front door. "Thanks for having us." Ross said to Maia.

"No problem, thanks for stopping by. Hopefully you'll find Romeo and you can bring him and Ang over sometime."

"Sure, anytime." Ross said before walking out the house.

Maia looked out the window and watched them drive off as Lucas walked behind her.

"Did you give Ang what she needed?" Maia asked him.

"Yes."

"Good," she goes to sit down on the couch, "If Derek knows what's best for him, he'll just give her that baby. She's protected him for five years and he should know if he doesn't, he'll end up like his father."

"You do realize, even though they've done bad decisions in their life, they are still my family and that is my brother." He turned to her.

"Yes, that may be true. However, what is also true is the fact that they both did terrible things and they will both end the same way. I know Ross and I know Angela, they will do ANYTHING for those they love. All I'm doing babe is telling the truth."

"Maybe you're right." Lucas said before walking into the other room.

Maia smiled to herself, "Oh, I know I'm right."
