I sat there with the note in my hand and it felt like I couldn't even breathe. Ross eventually walked up behind me and saw how I was acting. He sat down beside me and tried to comfort me.
"Baby, we'll find him. He could have just wondered off."
"Oh yeah, that totally makes sense. Romeo just happened to wonder off really far in one hour, Derek ended up being at Maia's wedding, oh but just to wish them good luck, AND he is trying out to be a fucking poet! While we're at it, let's go to the end of the rainbow and ask the leprechaun swimming in the pot of gold if we could see his pet unicorn who poops out skittles! Get real Ross, Derek has him!" I said, throwing the poem Derek wrote in Ross' direction.
I get up and start heading back where now there are police, FBI, and my family's agency which only consists of my 'aunt' and her two brothers along with a few of her friends. I see everyone from the wedding except for Ross and.....Lucas. Maybe he is still looking in the woods.
I walk up to Joanna and I see her talking to Maia. "Maia, have you seen this man before?" Joanna asks, holding a picture of Derek and showing it to Maia.
Maia inspects it before replying, "No, I don't think I have."
"Then how would he know about the wedding?" I ask Joanna.
"Yeah, I think if Lucas knew him, I would know him too."
"So, you didn't even see him in any of his family photos, like when you visited his family?" I asked, Maia shaking her head.
Joanna sighs, "Angela, we won't really be able to prove it was him without any evidence. Nobody here knows him except for us and that isn't enough." At this point, Ross is here and jumps in the conversation.
"No evidence? How is this for evidence?" He hands her the poem.
She takes a moment to read it before responding, "Anybody could've wrote that."
"Why are you suddenly defending him?! He broke out of prison, tried killing us, and has been stalking us for a long time! Who's to say he didn't take my baby!" Ross flipped out.
I thought for a while, thinking of any possible evidence, before something popped into my mind. "You wanna see proof? Well..." I reach into my pocket and get my phone. "My phone has plenty of proof, it records any phone call and you'll be able to listen to Derek's conversation with me." At this point, the FBI is also listening. I click on the recording, but all I could hear was static. I just stood there, how would somebody be able to do this without even being near my phone?
"Well, unless we have someone here who can speak static, this evidence is useless. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch, we already have an amber alert going around nationwide. We will take care of it and I'm pretty sure Derek's escape and your son's disappearance is just a huge coincidence." On of the FBI agents said.
"Coincidence? This man tried to kill us! He stalked us! He threatened us! He set my brother in law's house on fire with my baby in it! And all you got is it's a coincidence?!" I got louder and louder until I was practically screaming.
"Ma'am, I'm going to need you to calm down. He was in prison when all of this went down." The agent said.
"He is a mastermind! His father had a whole agency of hit-men, I'm pretty sure he is capable!"
"Ma'am, like I said before, calm down."
This truly made my blood boil, "You want me to fucking calm down?! THAT IS MY BABY AND YOU'RE TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN!!!!" Without realizing it, I was being held back by Ross from me launching myself at the agent.
"I am telling you this one more time, calm down or we will have to put you under confinement." The agent threatened.
I bit my tongue and it took everything from me to not kill the agent right now. My mom instincts kicked in and I knew I could do it in five seconds.
