I closed my locker, hoping my friend would leave me alone.
"So," Mason leaned against the locker next to mine. "You and Liam, huh?" He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows.
"Ugh, Mason. Please. Anyone but Liam." I knew I was sort of lying, considering my feelings toward the beta confuse me.
"Oh, please. You might think you have me fooled, but I am much smarter than I look. I know exactly what you two are doing."
"What are we doing, then?" I started to walk away with him by my side.
"You're throwing me a surprise party for my birthday! Don't deny it!"
I faked a smile. "Yup! You caught us."
Mason's smile faded. "You dumbass, my birthday isn't for a few more months."
"I know that."
No I didn't.
"I'm planning it early. It has to be perfect." I lied.
"Liar. I can see it right through your eyes. Here, I'll just ask Liam." He grabs his friend's backpack as he almost walks right past us. Liam stood on the other side of Mason, looking like a confused little puppy.
Mason put his arms over both our shoulders.
"Ask Liam what?" The beta asked.
"What are you two doing behind my back?"
"Why would you think we are doing something?" I asked, trying to escape his grasp but he just pulls me back.
"Because every time I asked him to hang, he says he's with you."
Liam shook his head and said defensively, "Not all the time!"
"What about last night?" Mason raised an eyebrow as I gulped.
Me and Liam had ended up watching Despicable Me. I don't know, its a good movie! Anyway, we made popcorn and then ordered the pizza like we said. So it was us on my bed with snacks and pizza.
I guess I ended up falling asleep though, because I woke up in the middle of the night with Liam's arms wrapped around me; kind of like spooning. But I just fell back asleep, too drowsy too address that matter. And when I fully awoke he was gone.
And I haven't talked to him since.
"Last night?" Liam questioned, glancing at me. "Last night we, uh, we-"
"Fine! You caught us. Me and Liam are dating." I said, shocking myself as well as the two boys.
"What?" They both asked.
"Me and Liam are dating. Every time you want to hang he's with me, because he's a good boyfriend. Last night we went on a midnight picnic date, didn't we, Liam?" I hinted.
"Uh-yeah. Yeah! We did. I think." Liam looked down at the floor, obviously confused with life.
"Yes, we did." I helped.
"Then why didn't you guys just tell me?" Mason asked.
"It was too soon. We had to know if it was gonna work or not." I said.
"Does it?"
"What?" Liam asked, his head shooting up.
"Is it working out so far?" Mason said with a 'duh' tone.
"Yes. And we really have to go, don't we, Liam?"
"I guess- okay, and we're going!" He yelped as I yanked his arm away from Mason.
