Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

The faint sound was enough to wake me up. The first thing I see is white. The first thing I feel is pain. And the first thing I think is, why am I alive?

I know I died. I died in Liam's arms. I died with everyone watching. I died, I know I did.

I took a look around the room I was in, and immediately recognized it as a hospital room. There were wires hooked up to me, and a pitcher of water on a small table with paper cups next to it. A plate of food laid next to the water.

When I moved, it all hurt. Especially in my stomach and forearm. Which made me confused.

Fighting the pain, I looked at my left forearm, seeing it was wrapped in a white banage. Without a moment's hesitation, I ripped it off, and couldn't believe my eyes.

"What the hell," I trailed off, and heard light snores.

My head whipped in the corner of the room, seeing none other than Liam Dunbar sleeping in what seemed like an uncomfortable chair. He looked exhausted, like he had been here for days.

"Liam." I said, finding my voice. "Liam."

"Wha-" the beta jumped up to his feet, looking alarmed. His eyes settled on me and his body relaxed. "Y-you're awake."

I nodded, sitting up in the bed. "W-what happened, Liam? What's going on?"

He rushed to my side, sitting at the foot of the bed. "You died. Well, not all the way. Before it was too late, Scott bit you. Then you blacked out, but you were still breathing. So we drove you all the way to Beacon Hills."

"How long has it been?"

"Four days."

I shook my head. Something still didn't add up. "If he bit me, why haven't I healed?" We both eyed the bite on my arm. "What's wrong?"

Liam grabbed my hand, rubbing it reassuringly. "We don't know. But we do know that you're alive. So in a way, it's all okay."

"But-"

He shakes his head, silencing me. "You just woke up. You don't need to be overwhelmed with any of these answers. You should rest."

"I've been sleeping for four days, Liam-"

"Madison. Please." Liam begged, his eyes watering.

I nod, biting my tongue, laying back down. His thumb ran over the skin on the back of my hand, and I closed my eyes, letting the beeping sound of the heart monitor overcome every noise in the room.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

"Liam?" I whisper.

"Hm?"

"Don't leave me."

It's quiet, and for a moment I think he's left. But Liam grips my hand tighter, and I feel the warmth course through my body.

"Never."

Lydia bursted through the front door, smiling when she saw me sitting on the couch. She instantly embraced me in a tight hug, and it still hurt but I didn't mind.

"I thought I would never see you again." She murmured.
She pulled away and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "They wouldn't let me see you in the hospital. No idea how Liam got in."
