"Should we go check that out? " I say concerned about what is going on. The crashing and explosions continue.

"No, it's too dangerous. We have no idea what it is." Violet replies.

"Violet is probably right. It's not wise to interfere. We aren't superheroes." Kino exclaims. "Nor do we want to be ones."

"Do you think it's a superhero versus super-villain fight? That would be cool." Chase says with a huge smile on his face. "We should definitely check it out."

His smile widens and he jumps off the roof and lands on his feet. Impressive. "I'm going whether you guys are coming or not." He looks at us from the sidewalk.

"Guys, maybe we can help. Why can't we be heroes too?" I say as Violet and Kino just look at me with intensity.

"Look...I'm going with Chase. He'll need someone watching his back." I start to walk towards the edge of the roof, but Violet grabs my arm tightly.

"Don't. Last time I tried to be a hero...I lost a brother." She says and it surprises me. "I don't want to lose two more friends."

"I'm sorry.... I... I didn't know. But I have to. We have powers. We can't just sit around using them for shoplifting. We have these gifts for a reason, we can make a difference. I'm going." Kino nods in agreement, I jump off the roof, and Chase looks at me approvingly. I land next to him on my feet as well.

"I can't believe I'm doing this." Violet jumps off the roof too.

"Guess I have no choice." Kino smiles and uses the ladder.

"Ready or not... Here we come." I say this with a lot more confidence than I have. In a blast of static, we leave to face whatever is on the other side of the city. How bad could it be?

Preeeetttty bad. We arrive in the blink of an eye in the middle of a street covered with blaze. There are flames everywhere. Then I hear someone crying from inside a tipped over car.

"Help! Please!" A voice. It sounds like a woman.

I turn to everyone else and take charge. "Violet, Kino, Chase; Look around for anyone who needs help." They nod and split up. I rush over to the toppled car the voice came from.

A woman is in the driver's seat and what seems to be her son in the back seat. I grab the woman first. She's easier to reach.

"Don't worry I got you." I pull her out easily. Then I see it, oil and gasoline are leaking everywhere and the engine is sparking. Parts of the car have ignited, and I can tell it doesn't have that long.
