5. Training

The blonde girl raises her head, only for her hands to flare up with energy.

"Where am I!?" She stands up quickly and looks around in a defensive state.

"Hey, hey. It's okay." I raise my hands in front of me. "You can trust us. I'm Jack and this is Chase. Our friends Violet and Kino are outside. Subzero struck you in the heart with an ice spike and you passed out, if not for us you would have died. You need to lay down so you can recover." The girl looks around and she lowers her hands.

"You didn't look under my mask did you?" She looks at me worried as she touches her mask.

"No, we wouldn't do that," I say reassuringly.

"Did you heal me?" She touches the spot where the spike was and she winces. I can see purple where the wound is.

"I used my fire powers to heat up the spike so it would melt." I light my hands on fire for a second and smirk.

"Thanks, my weakness is ice. It's the only thing that can hurt me." She smiles back.

"Wait so you're invincible?" I look at her puzzled. Maybe I'm invincible too, now that I absorbed her powers.

"Yep. I'm invincible. Bullets, punches, powers, everything. Ice, on the other hand, that'll do damage." She looks at me quizzically. "So uh, fire is your power?"

"Well, actually my power is power absorption. I take people's powers by touching them, but they still keep their abilities, it's hard to explain. So far I've got gravity, time, fire, super strength, electricity, teleportation, regeneration, telekinesis, telepathy and uh...whatever your powers are." She looks at me confused.

"I kinda, accidentally, absorbed your powers too...What might they be by the way?"

"You took my powers without asking?" She raises an eyebrow.

"Well, it kinda just happened. You fell out the sky, I caught you, and then boom. Absorbed by accident."

"I guess you're off the hook then."

"So...who are you?" I ask with a face full of confusion. "And where'd you come from?"

"Well, when I was thirteen my mother and father worked for a group of scientists called Quantum Labs. They had been studying what gives people powers but, well, you could say it backfired..." She winces at the thought. "The lab exploded at the grand opening of the superhero studies event."

Wait a second..."I heard about that on tv a couple years ago." I say. She nods and continues.

"A couple hundred people were there that night, including me and my parents. Everyone there was either killed or given superhuman abilities. My mother was killed in the blast but my father and I got powers. My dad was given fire powers, he ran away from the rubble in flames and I haven't seen him since."

She frowns. Could her dad be... nah, there's no way... "But I was given nuclear energy powers, kind of like a star. I can shoot blasts of pure energy out of my hands, I can fly, I have super speed, I'm virtually invincible, I have super hearing, X-Ray vision, and super strength."

"I'm sorry about your parents..." Chase says sadly. "Everyone here has lost their's too."

"It's okay." She says as she steps out the tent. "I guess I need to show you how to use my powers." She smirks. "Let's see if you can fly."

"This is going to be amazing." Flight. Oh, yeah!

"Are you ready?" She asks and I nod and follow her. We stop at the edge.
"Sorry about this."
