12. Breakout

"You ready?" I say confidently.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Neon says as she flares her hands with pink energy and her hair lights in beautiful pink and red flames.

"Ain't nothing better to do," Pitch says while bringing dark shadows around him. The shadows swell around him as if ready to release their fury.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Ravager says as he presses a shiny earpiece on the left side of his head and a metal mask covers his face with two glowing red eye shades. Then he quickly blasts one of the armored guards with energy.

I punch one man in the face and his helmet cracks. Rush dashes over and punches him in the gut at full speed and then Olivia blasts him in the chest with energy and his chest piece breaks. Then I punch him repeatedly until he's knocked out.

"These guys are really hard to beat and I still have no idea why we're fighting them. Can someone please explain what's going on?!" Tommy says as he turns into a triceratops and rams two men against the wall.

"I'll explain later. Just keep hitting them until they fall. Oh yeah, and don't get shot." Just then a man comes up behind me with a stun baton.

Before I can react Rush speeds by and in a flash of speed he whirls around me. Then he stops in place as the guard is shaking on the floor with electricity trickling through him and Rush drops the shock baton at my feet.

"You gonna fight or stand there, hotshot?" He smiles cockily and disappears in a whisk of blue and silver to help Violet.

"Watch it, Jack!" Ravager uses telekinesis to toss a guy over me and I blast him with a wave of gravity into a wall.

"You know, this is kind of fun. I could really do this more often if this is what being a hero is like." Pitch says as he uses a shadow to hit a guy into his sister and she blasts him with energy.

"It's my favorite hobby," I say and kick a guard in the face and lunge a piece of concrete into his armor.

He stumbles back with the chunk of stone still in his chest and aims a handgun at me.

"Yeah, it would probably be easier though if these guys weren't freaken invincible!" Rush grabs the guy in front of me and punches him so many times I can't even see it.

Then he grabs him by the arm and sprints through a couple hallways, dragging him on the floors.

A split second later he's back and he throws the guy against the wall. Then Tommy slams him with a massive dinosaur tail.

"Don't worry, they eventually crack." Then I punch him as hard as I can and his helmet shatters.

"Hey, I found the exit! Let's finish up here and head for it!" Rush says as he dashes past me.

"Nice work, speedy," I say as I blast a guy in the face with a wave of fire and his helmet starts melting.

"I have to admit. Their armor kinda looks cool. I wouldn't mind having some." Rush says as he speedily puts on the suit of white armor the guy I just knocked out had on.

"Yeah, very nice." Then he speeds off to fight. Violet runs up beside me and blasts a guy with purple energy and then uses her telekinesis to pummel him against the walls.

"How many left?!" She says while still slinging the guard around like a rag doll. Then she uses her powers to grab ahold of another guard and she starts slamming them into each other.

"Uh..." Then Rush uppercuts a guard and then tackles him at full speed into a wall. "One." He looks straight ahead and we see Titan standing at the end of the hallway.
