Chapter 2: Her Life

(Sarah’s POV)

Same as the previous days, Sarah woke up early. She needs to make sure that her siblings’ breakfast is ready before they leave for school.

Still yawning, she stepped out of the small room that she and her sister occupy in their small house. Their house is a small one-story house - which only has 4 small rooms/divisions. It has 2 rooms - one for her and another one for her and her younger sister, then another one for her younger brother. The other two divisions would be their living room/dining room and their restroom.

Stretching her bones and warming up, she then proceeded in cooking breakfast. She took whatever’s left in their fridge – eggs, some hotdogs and leftover rice from last night’s meal. After preparing their breakfast, she went back to her room and woke up her younger sister, Bella.

“Bella, wake up. You need to get up or you’ll be late for school.”

“Alright, alright, I’ll go up in a bit.” Bella sleepily answered.

Knowing her sister’s already awake, Sarah then went to the other room and tried to wake her brother up. Her brother is a heavy sleeper and a simple name-calling won’t work on him. She immediately jumped on her brother’s bed and tried to wrestle her brother.

“Wake up, Edward! Time for school! Time for school!”

Yeah, yeah. I know. Bella and Edward?! Blame it to my mother who was a die-hard fan of Twilight. I don’t know what she gets from those books. Like seriously? Who would name her children after fictitious characters?

“Argggghhh!” Her brother shouted. “You really are an annoying sister, do you know that?” He struggled to wrestle her off him and stood up quickly. “Am going to take a bath, don’t bother me.”

“Awww. I love you Baby Boy!” Sarah shouted to her brother as he gathered his clothes and grumpily made his way out of the room and towards the restroom.

“I love you too to bits sister! But you are really annoying!” She heard him shout back to her from inside the restroom. Her brother is really the sweetest. Out of her two younger siblings, her brother is the most affectionate one. Even if he’s already in highschool, he doesn’t hesitate to show his love and affection for his two sisters. She stepped out of the room and saw her sister coming out of the room with towel and clothes with her.

“Go drink up your hot chocolate before you take a bath. You may go ahead and eat if you want so you could just take a bath and get dressed after.” She told her sister as she sits down on the dining table and grabbed a plate. She needs to start up early as well. As soon as her siblings leave the house for school, she would have to prepare and go to work. As the Branch Manager of the restaurant where she works, she needs to be there an hour before they open which is 10am, and then would be the last to leave when they close which is 10pm as well. Her job / position is not a high-wager, since the restaurant is not really a 4 to 5-star one, but she’s earning enough for their daily needs and for sending her siblings to school.

“Ate, am not a child anymore. I’m a grown up lady. I’m already in College.” Bella complained.

Bella laughed, “I know. But you’re still my Baby Girl.” Then she messed up her sister’s hair.

“Ate!!! Stop!”

She further laughed. She really loves her sister and brother! She would do anything for them.

“Eat. Just eat so you guys won’t be late.” She then left her sister in peace and ate her own breakfast. Soon after, their brother joined them and ate as well.

“Whew! Another day… Another day… Mind over matter… Mind over matter… Everything will be good. It is a good day today.” She chanted as she walks toward the restaurant where she works. She knows it will be another long, busy and tiring day. But being always positive, she always get by every day. That’s one of her great qualities as the manager of the restaurant she’s working at. She’s energetic and always have a positive outlook in life which rub on her crew/staff in the restaurant. That’s also why her boss (the lady who owns the restaurant) likes her as well.

“Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen!” She cheerfully greeted her staff as soon as she enters the restaurant. She can see some of them busily cleaning and preparing the dining area. They are about to open the restaurant in less than an hour.

“Good Morning Ms. Sarah. You looked happy as always!” One of her good staff, Emily, greeted her. Emily is her Asst. Branch Manager. She is one of her trusted employees in the restaurant. Whenever she’s out or when she has to attend some events (as instructed by their Lady Boss), she leaves everything to Emily. Through the 2 years that they have worked together, she has shown her and everyone else that she can be trusted with the job and is also efficient to manage the restaurant. She also considers Emily as one of her good friends at work, as she only has few.
