8. If this is a dream, don't wake me up!

"Oh, my God," I sighed. "Your voice is magical!"

"Oh, you flatter me!" Aaron said, beaming at me. "I love playing this guitar. Though it's not mine and I'm not great at playing it, it seems to like me." He said, stroking the guitar.

That's one lucky guitar, I heard myself think.

"Do you play anything?"

"If we're talking about instruments then, no."

"Oh. So you're into sports?"

"Um, no."

Aaron laughed again, shaking his head at me. His hair was just the perfect length, it was long enough that it moved when he shook his head but not too long to alter his cute appearance. It took me a moment to realise he was asking me something.

"What do you do?" He repeated for me.

"I write. Pretty much all I do."

"Cool! Like poems?"

"Anything related to writing."

"Cool. Show me something you've written some day."

"Will do," I smiled.

I was beginning to feel so at ease, it wasn't like I was meeting him for the first time. He was being so genuine and nice, I'd have totally fallen in love with him if I hadn't already done that ages ago.

"Hey, I almost forgot to tell you. Adrian will be attending your school from next week. He's taking a transfer." He said, making me look at him.

"That's great! What is he, a junior?" I asked, watching as Adrian came with a bunch of keys clutched in his hand.

"Yeah, I wanted to ask you to show him around and stuff?"

"Don't worry. I'll take care of that."

Suddenly, Adrian was right in front of us. He seemed to be searching for something, then noticing the keys in his hand he smacked his forehead. Both Aaron and I laughed at him.

"Shoot! It's already six. I need to rush..." Adrian was talking to himself, throwing on clothes in the most adorable way.

"Wait. It's six? I had to be home by now." I could feel my face lose its colour.

"I'll drop you if you want." Adrian offered.

Halfheartedly, I nodded. As I got up to leave, Aaron got to his feet. With a smile so hypnotising, I swear he could get me to listen to him without even having to try. He held my hand, a sweet gesture, and we shook hands.

"I'll be hoping to see you at the concert," he was saying, with a lopsided smile.

"Of course. Won't miss it for anything." I grinned.

As he let go of my hand, quite too soon for my taste, I turned towards the door. "Uh, listen?"

"Yeah?" I turned.

"I accepted your request on Facebook in the evening." He said, winking at me. "I had to do a little work, but I finally found your request."

I nodded working my brain to form a sensible response to that and trying to reduce the meaning behind his words. But he made it easy for me by saying it out loud.

"So, you know, you can text me. If you want to."

"Of course I will!" I squealed.
It took a lot of work to control myself and not hug him or kiss him (on the cheek, of course) right there.

Once outside, I found Adrian waiting for me in the car. After I bid adieu to Aaron, put on the seatbelt and made myself comfortable, Adrian started the car.

"So, I can relax now that you'll go easy on me at school?"

I burst out laughing. "Of course. You can sit with us, if you want. Until you make friends of your own."

I was sure Melanie would love Adrian, and Drake and Tasha would simply ignore him. And the rest of my batch would swoon over him, him being a mini starlet. So my offer would be completely welcomed by everyone at school.

"Great. But I must say, Drake is amazing. When he came down yesterday, he was so sweet and-"

"Wait, what? Drake came over yesterday?" I was double checking as I was sure I hadn't heard him right.

"Yeah. Didn't he tell you? He came down and told us all about you and how much you adore Aaron. And, oh-"

My mouth was hanging open and noticing it, Adrian seemed to realise I had no idea about all this.

"You didn't know this and I was supposed to keep my mouth shut. Damn!"

He looked embarrassed. I wanted to tell him it was alright but I knew I wouldn't be able to utter a word. So I nodded and kept staring ahead. I couldn't believe Drake had gone to such heights for me, that he had actually planned this all out for me. And slowly it dawned on me; the ease with which Aaron had welcomed us in, how he had suggested I take a picture with him. Of course that wasn't because I was special, it was all Drake's doing! Oh, how I wanted to thank him for everything. I pulled my phone out and quickly typed a thank you and sent it to him.

"So, you aren't pissed that... this was all planned?"

"Of course not. I don't think Aaron would have even spoken to me if not for Drake's plans. I'm glad-"

"Oh, no. Drake only asked him to agree for a photograph. Rest, it was all Aaron." Adrian was shaking his head, smiling sweetly. "It was so unusual for him, the way he acted today. It almost seemed like," I looked at the right moment to see him turn towards me and grin, "like he likes you."

"Huh?"
