I stopped short when I saw him get off the car. It was Drake's car, alright but it wasn't him driving it. It was Aaron.

"How did you know where I live?" I asked, shocked at my choice of a first question.

Aaron shrugged a full bodied shrug. "Drake has it saved on the GPS."

Right. Of course.

"And what are you doing here?" I asked, finally happy about having asked a sensible question.

"Sarah," he said, exasperated. "Get in, please. Let's talk."

I rolled my eyes, as a response to his exasperated tone, and climbed in. I sat, with my hands crossed against my chest.

"Shoot."

"What went wrong? What is my mistake?" His tone was anything but calm. He sounded annoyed.

"Nothing. I just didn't feel like being there."

"Sarah." His palm hit the wheel and it honked loudly. "Stop beating around the bush, just fucking say it."

I swallowed hard. I knew Aaron as a calm person, but this Aaron in front of me was scary. Intimidating. Not likable.

"I-I didn't like that you introduced me to everyone as your friend," I blurted out. "We had just confessed to each other, and then you go there and-"

"What did you expect me to do? Tell the hundred strangers there that I was in love with you before I could tell my parents? You wanted me to do that, because that'd be too stupid, Sarah!"

I blinked at him. Once. Twice. Thrice.

"What? What did I do now?" He sneered.

"You... you said..." I stuttered.

"What?"

"You said you love me?"

I don't know why it came out as a question. Maybe I wanted to confirm that he had said it. His face coloured quickly and so did mine.

"Aaron," I started to speak. He held his hand out, asking me to stop and so I stopped.

"Okay, this is really weird." He breathed out. "I didn't want to say it, not that I regret it, but I have no intention of compelling you to like me more than you do. Love is too big a word, and we barely know each other." He breathed out again. "I'm sure about my feelings, Sarah. But we need to take this slow. That's how a good relationship is built. Not in haste."

I nodded. I knew too well how bad relationships could go if you tried to escalate from a mere crush to being in love in three seconds. It was easy to get lost in the daydreams but real life was all about staying grounded and focussed.

"I agree, Aaron. I'm sorry, I know I reacted childishly, and I ruined your evening," I sighed.

A small smile made its way on to his face and his eyes shone with a mischievous glint. He put his hand on mine, scooted closer and kissed me.

"I don't want your apology, Sarah. I only want-" he said, tracing circles against my thumb. I gulped. "-to know why you hate your middle name so much."

For a moment I couldn't register what he said. When I did understand, my face darkened. I felt like being laughed at by a crowd.

"What the fuck?"

"Tell me. Drake says he doesn't know either, and that you'd never tell anyone no matter what. And being your boyfriend I have the right to ask."

I blushed deeper and shook my head lightly. "God, Aaron. Fine. I'll tell you. But you can't tell anyone. Not even Drake. Or Adrian."

"Okay, done." His grin was so maniacal, I wanted to headbutt him right there.
