Harry's POV~

My eyes snap open, my sleep interrupted by a terrible ache in my abdomen. I pant, clutching my stomach and screw my eyes shut. I'm careful not to cry out, seeing as Claire is asleep in the chair beside me.

Luckily, the pain quickly ceases and I sigh in relief. My whole body aches and I'm extremely uncomfortable. This was not supposed to happen, any of this. I'm not just referring to the car accident, but also the cheating and the heartbreak. None of that was supposed to happen, and the worst part is, it's all my fault.

I turn my attention over to Claire when I hear her grunt in her sleep. Her eyes flutter open, exposing the deep blue color. A small, tired smile creeps onto her lips and she says,"What time is it?" I glance at the digital clock on the table and respond,"5:15 a.m." She nods, sitting up.

"How are you feeling?" She asks, leaning her elbow on the soft arm of the chair. "I'm okay," I tell her, leaving out the part that I experienced very harsh pain about three minutes ago.

"Good," she says, her eyes closing momentarily before opening again. "Claire, go back to sleep," I say. She shakes her head and yawns. "I'm good."

I stare at her as she grabs a magazine off the table and begins to flip through it. I take the time to admire the familiarity of her face, the crease between her brows as she reads, the pinkness of her lips, the blueness of her eyes. All of the things that make her so beautiful, and then I'm reminded of one, heart shattering detail.

She's no longer mine.

Claire's POV~

The sun is now shining through the dreary blinds on the Windows. I look up from the third magazine I've read, at the clock. It's now 7:42 a.m. I put down the magazine and pull out my phone. I text my mom, filling her in on how Harry's doing and asking how she slept after leaving the hospital.

After I send the text, I look at Harry, who's fallen back asleep. Bruises are now more evident on his forehead and cheek. His lips are parted as his chest rises and falls with each breath he takes. He looks sad, even while sleeping, I can just see it.

My mind starts working at an idea of how I could possibly make him happy after the accident he's been in, knowing it's no longer going to be me.

I begin to ask myself, what is important to Harry? Then, it hits me. His friends.

I immediately form a group chat with Liam, Louis, Zayn, Niall and Andy. My fingers type quickly, excitedly, as I urge them to get on the next plane to Portland. My heart flutters at the thought of Harry waking up tomorrow morning to the sight of his dearest friends all standing before him.

I glance at Harry, who's rolled over in his sleep, his brown curls sprawled over the pillow. His hair really is getting long.

I bring my lip in between my teeth in anticipation of his reaction. To my delight, all six of them reply within minutes, and a huge smile takes over my face as I read their responses.

Harry's POV~

After another day and night of medication, conversations with doctors, tv and lots of pain, I am awoken by the sound of whispering. I open my eyes slowly, the light annoyingly bright. Once my vision is normal again, I get a good look at who's in the room with me, and my jaw drops.

Louis, Liam, Andy, Niall, and Zayn all stand through out the room, smiling at me. "Wh-what are you all doing here?" I ask, wide eyed. "Claire invited us," Andy says, smiling. I look around the room and find Claire in the back, leaning against the wall with a subtle smile on her face. My heart jumps, knowing that she would do this for me even after what I did, gives me a glimmer of hope.

She only nods at me, as if urging me to pay attention to them, not her. I smile at her and do so. "Those bruises are pretty nasty, mate. You doin alright?" Liam asks, lightly grabbing my shoulder. "Yeah, I'm okay. I've got to say, though. It's a little creepy that you all were just watching me sleep," I joke, earning a laugh from my friends. I try to laugh too, but it hurts.

"Oh relax! We've only been here for 20 minutes," Andy says, leaning into Louis. I'm glad to see they're still together. "I was worried about you mate, you gave me a good scare," Louis says, sadness in his voice. I smile at him and say,"I'm sorry Lou, but the doctors are saying I'm gonna be just fine." He smiles and nods.

"Well, we're all starving from the plane ride, so I think we'll go grab some food and then come back?" Niall asks, and I chuckle. Of course Niall would want to get food right now. "Yeah, go ahead. Ill see you all later," I say and wave them out the door.

When they're gone, I see Claire begin to gather her things. "Where are you going?" I ask her hurriedly, not wanting to be left alone. "I'm going home. I need a shower," she says, running her fingers through her hair.

"Oh, okay," I say, relieved. "But, before you go, can I ask you something?" I ask, looking into her eyes. She nods slowly. "Why would you go through the trouble to get all our friends down here after what I did? Why are you even here with me? I don't deserve any of this."

She sighs and sits down in the chair next to me. "Harry, I'm here because no matter how much you hurt me, I won't be able to stop loving you. My love for you is just as strong as it was before. Yes, you hurt me, horribly. Have I forgiven you? No. But, I care for you, and I love you, and I hate seeing you in pain. That's why I'm here, and that's why I called them."

She takes a deep breath after she speaks and I'm frozen. I open my mouth, trying somehow to scramble a response but before I can, she grabs her bag and heads out the door.
