It was her thirtieth birthday. Gabi celebrated at home with her family. Larissa and Lucas would soon move out to their own apartment. Flávia was expecting a baby girl. Her father's book would be released in a few weeks. Her mother filed her retirement paperwork.
They ate cake together.
She was thirty, divorced, unemployed and had no kids. She lived with her parents. She didn't have many friends. That was definitely not how Gabi had seen her life unfold. That was not what she dreamed of when she was thirteen.
But it was good. She let go of the illusion of what life is supposed to look like. She just lived and looked ahead. She found home again.
