My Best Friend Died Today

It was not her time to go

She overdosed on sleeping pills

Such an easy way to go

All hope was lost, and she felt so alone

Why not just leave?

My best friend from childhood

The very first friend I knew

It is selfish that I wish she would've stayed?

Maybe I could've talked her out of it

But maybe this was the final thread

She was done

She opted out

And now that she's gone...

My heart is empty

Death is a beautiful tragic thing

Please come back we need you

You're not worthless, you are important

You were my everything

And then you had to go

I'm not angry or upset with you

I understand you just wanted to die.

When did you know you wanted to stop breathing

When did you know your heart had to stop beating

When did you decide to leave us all behind

When?

I wish I could've said goodbye.

But the last goodbye is always the hardest

And if I would've been on that phone with you saying goodbye...

I would've found the words to make you stay

Because a life without you, is a life I don't want to live

Forever will the memories of you live in my head

Back from when we were kids

Up until the day I heard that you had passed

I will not forget you until the day I die.
