mia wakes up with a pounding headache and no recollection of the previous night. but then her mind involuntarily reminisces on the sight of her boyfriend passionately kissing another girl in his bathroom and sadness overwhelms her.
but like every morning, she checks her phone and winces at the bright light it produces which brightly penetrates her sensitive eyes. she gasps when she sees recent messages to and from joshua and almost dies of embarrassment at what they read.
mia: i am really sorry for last night, i'm so embarrassed.
joshua: don't be. you needed a friend and i was there for you
mia sighs at the word 'friend'. are her and joshua friends again? she doesn't even know
mia: thanks for looking after me, seriously. it's strange because you're living in a different continent yet you still managed to take care of me better than anyone else has since you left.
joshua bites his lip at her words. he misses mia so much, and a minuscule, less stubborn section of mia's heart misses him, too.
joshua: i wish you were here mia
mia: i kinda wish i was there, too.
joshua: you should visit
mia: university is tough, my parents now argue on a daily basis, my boyfriend cheated on me, i have like two friends, i wish that i could just escape this place sometimes.
joshua: it's ok everything will be ok i promise
joshua: i have news
mia: yeah?
joshua: i'm flying to america next month
