+bonus chapter o n e

"mia!" joshua called loudly in a mixture of delight and shock. "mia, mia, mia! come quick!"

"what is it?" mia asked, walking into noah's nursery. 

"he's walking! he's walking!" joshua cried, his eyes teary as his son stumbled towards his arms. "he's walking, mia! he's doing it!" 

"oh my goodness!" a large smile took over mia's features as she crouched down beside joshua.

"come on, buddy! you can do it!" joshua encouraged his son who walked slowly into his arms. "your first steps, well done, noah!" he cheered, wrapping his arms around him.

noah giggled as joshua stood up with him in his arms, spinning him around in the air. mia watched in adoration as the two laughed together, their cute giggles sounding like music to her ears. 

"well done, little man." she said quietly to noah despite his lack of understanding. joshua crouched slightly so that mia could reach noah, and when she could, she kissed his soft cheeks with a grin that expressed her joy.

"i'm so proud," joshua smiled widely, setting noah down onto the floor. "i need to call my mom and tell her the news." 

"okay, babe." mia chuckled at her boyfriend's cuteness just before he disappeared in search for his phone. 

"it was amazing," his voice grew louder as he neared the nursery. "i was just holding him and i let go for a second and he just started to walk! i know, amazing, right? he walked straight into my arms, mom! and, mia got there just in time to see, too!"

"your daddy is very proud of you." mia whispered to noah who did nothing but smile. 

"okay, mom, i've got to go. i love you, bye!" joshua ended the call before sitting beside mia and noah on the floor. "i'm so happy we got to share that moment as a family." 

"me, too," mia smiled, stretching upwards and kissing joshua's lips quickly. "me, too."
