"Mr Lettique."I said politely yet having a serious tone in my voice.
"Miss Maiden! Looking exactly the same since I last saw you. Except this time, you've got a belt." He said and I clenched my jaw. He looked to Sherlock and smirked.
"About several years back, there was a business party, and your partner here had come running in to tell us about an attack, but she had forgotten her belt, causing her pants to fall down in front of about 400 people." He said, chuckling and I felt my upper lip twitch.
"Nathan Maiden." I said and he looked to me.
"What about Nathan?" He asked, looking concerned.
"Dan, where is he?" I asked and he shrugged.
"I just saw him a couple hours ago." He said and I nodded, turning around and going to walk out.
"Where are you going?" Dan asked and I stopped, looking to him.
"To an old friend. She may have something for me." I said as I walked out, going to the elevator and repeatedly hitting the button, hoping to bring it up faster. Once the doors opened, I hit the Lobby's button and waited for the doors to close so Sherlock and I could descend.
"Why are you so embarrassed about your trousers falling down?" he asked and I looked to him.
"I had been in the middle of having sex when I got the call to go and rescue Mr Lettique. I didn't bother with undergarments at the time so I just threw on my pants and shirt. I was rushing so o forgot to grab my belt. So, I ran in, not even noticing that my gun was weighing down my pants, so the minute I got up there, and I moved my hips a certain way, my pants went down. When my pants fell down, people didn't see my underwear. They saw my ass and I'm sure several saw a spot only a few, including you, have seen." I stated, walking out of the elevator, grabbing my badge from the front desk and pulling open the doors, going to the car. I unlocked the passenger door and climbed in, crawling to the driver's side. I could still feel my cheeks burning and I put my stolen sunglasses on. As Sherlock got in, I started the car and as soon as he closed his door, I pulled into the, kind of, quiet streets.
"At least rush hour is over for now." I stated, trying to change the subject but Sherlock wasn't budging.
"How could you forget your belt?!" He exclaimed, trying to hold back laughter.
"Because the things that that guy was doing to me fucking clouded my thought!" I exclaimed back, but it seemed that Sherlock looked a bit annoyed.
"But when we're in a cab and we're already a block away, after intimate activities, you make the cabbie turn around so you can go grab it!" He said, not wanting to let this subject go.
"That's because I know now to always grab my belt!" I snarled at him as I sped through a light that was about to change to red. I eased up on the gas pedal, trying to calm myself down.
"I'm not the same skank I was back then." I said softly.
"That guy was just a one night stand, and I was just getting over the pole dancing. My belt was at the closed club." I said and I could feel Sherlock staring at me.
"No, you've always been smart. It doesn't matter who's with you. I've heard it from many of your friends." He said and I moved around, a bit uncomfortable. He stared at me for a bit longer, and when I looked at him, his face held sorrow, anger, betrayal, and wonder.
"You did drugs?" He asked and I clenched my jaw, not wanting to look at him. He scoffed and looked away from me.
"What did you use?" He asked and I kept my eyes on the road.
"Dammit Destiny! What did you fucking us-" He was raising his voice when I pulled over and looked at him with a malevolent look.
"I did a lot of fucking drugs, Sherlock! Coke, meth, molly, morphine, marijuana. I was either in the club snorting white snow, shooting up in a boyfriend's house, or I was at a friend's house, getting higher than the fucking Empire State!" I said, raising my voice.
"I was fucking getting over a high and was done getting fucked and shit faced! So, I apologize for forgetting my belt, 5 years ago!" I said through gritted teeth. Sherlock just kept a blank stare at me, and I looked away. Sighing mentally, and resisting the urge to slam my fists into the steering wheel.
"Go back to the house, because I have a friend to visit. And I don't want to look at you right now." I said as I got out of the car and walked around and to the sidewalk, putting my hands in my pockets, holding onto my phone and wallet.
I had to stop at a few corners, needing to remember where to turn and the short cuts to take. I walked up to an apartment building, looking at the names of the tenants who lived there, and found a familiar one.
"Never really was one for change, huh Sarah?" I asked as I hit the button under her name, where a slight buzzing sound went off. I waited for something and as I went to hit the buzzer again, the intercom came on.
"Can I help you?" I heard her Irish accent ask and I smiled.
"I believe so, Sarah." I said and waited.
"Who is this?" She asked and I chuckled.
"An old friend. Haven't seen you in a year." I said and I heard her gasp.
"Oh, Destiny! Please, do come on up!" She said and I heard the door next to me unlock. I smirked and opened the door, going past a few doors, and into a hallway that split. I took a right and found the stairs, slowly walking up, trying to make sure that all of my anger was under lock and key for the small meeting. As I got to the second floor, I took one deep breath and started to go up the stairs two at a time. Once up to the third floor, I went down the white hall to my right and looked at the doors with the golden numbers screwed into the wall beside the door. Once I found the golden 35, I knocked on the door. I heard approaching footsteps, and put on a smile. I heard a pause and the click of a door unlocking. The door swung open, and I saw Sarah. I smiled at her and she smiled back, opening her arms and hugging me.
"I haven't seen you in forever!" She laughed, joyfully. I chuckled and hugged her back.
"It was only a year!" I said as I stepped back but Sarah shrugged.
"Well, it feels like forever. So, what brings you to my neck of the woods?" She asked and I looked at her, sighing.
"I need to find Nathan Maiden."
