Lucas
They're here.
The coppers.
Dad's frantic.
"Leave everything son, we have to leave now." His strong, muscular arms push me towards the back door but I slip out of his grip. "Lucas this is serious."
His words didn't even register in my head as I leap upstairs to find the one thing that matters to me in this cruel cruel world.
Dad shouts after me but I carry on until I reach my room. By now, my breath is coming out in short, panicked pants.
The photo is where it always is; hidden behind my small chest of draws.
Dad goes mad when he sees it, so I quickly learnt to keep it hidden.
Slowly I reach for it, staring at it for a second. The only photo that I own of my Grandma and I. The Gran who I haven't seen for years.
I'm dazed, eyes heating up with forbidden tears. This whole situation we're in scares me, although I'd never admit it out loud.
Only a weak man cries according to my Dad.
A yell from him brought me back to the scary reality. Faster as a flash I hide the photo under my jumper and hurry downstairs, flinging myself out the back door just in time to hurl myself into dad's car and slam the door behind me.
"What the hell did you go back for?" Dad growls angrily at me, pressing his foot down hard on the accelerator and we sped off, knowing full well the house was probably full of coppers already.
I ignore him and stare out of the window. He accepts my silence and concentrates on driving fast, but not too fast to cause attention.
Everything's changing now. My life will never be the same again. I'll never see my mates, I'll never go back to college.
At this moment, everything's up in the air and I have no one to blame but Dad.

So an introduction to Lucas. A bad boy? Hmm
