Chapter 37

Eve

Charlotte sent me a text as I leave the doctors with Max. He's got my new sleeping pills and I'm going to start taking them tonight. Hopefully it will take away the horrible dreams.

From Charlotte:

Hi, the gang is round mine if you wanna join?

To Charlotte:

I'll be ten mins.

"Max, fancy driving me to Char's?" I question as we got into his car.

"Ok it will be good for you to spend some time with them." Max agrees, starting up the engine and handing me the pot with my pills in. I pocket them to keep them safe and hidden. "I'm going to go back to the hospital just so you know where I am."

I nod, but he didn't really need to tell me that. He spends most of the time by Benji's side. Unless he's working. We were there this morning but, as there's no change, I don't feel like sitting in the quiet room watching my little brother being kept alive by machines.

Max drops me off outside the twins house and Leo comes out to greet me with a fist bump.

"Hey you, good to see you." He guides me into the house and I notice the sitting room where my mates are chilling goes quiet when I enter.

"No news then?" AJ guesses at the sight of my face.

"Still the same." I shrug. "Can we just not think about it for one night?"

Charlotte agrees and gives me a warm hug. Lexi and Mattie are sat together on the sofa, their hands entwined together.

"Hold up, when did this happen?" I aim my question at them, smiling a little.

Lex blushes as the gang explain all at once what happened.

From what I gathered from the chaos, Lex had been struggling around Mattie who noticed this and decided that she'd give their relationship a go. Since then they'd been inseparable.

"Sorry I missed it." I apologise but they wave it off.

"You had more important things on your plate." Lexi says and Mattie kisses her gently on the cheek. They then go into their own little world.

"Charlotte punched Lola." Charlie mentions, earning a heated glare from my hot headed friend. "What? You did!"

"Well she fucking deserved it." Char growls and Leo laughs. "She's a slut!"

"What happened?" I wonder, sitting next to AJ on the floor.

"Well for one thing she's taken your job at the cafe." Char states and I raise my eyebrow in surprise. "That pissed me off I mean she doesn't even need a job! Then I was at some party with Sophia and the girls. I was going to get with this guy..."

"Ew enough!" Leo put his hands over his ears in disgust.

"Get over yourself." Char clips her brother round the ear. "We were just about to fuck when he claimed he needed a drink so I waited and waited for him to come back. Finally I went downstairs and see him getting a blow job off that bitch!"

"So you punched her." Leo rolls his eyes and Charlotte nods.

"Anything else I missed?" I wonder and Leo glances across the room.

"Yeah. Harvey." Charlotte speaks what her brothers thinking.

"His Mum's kicked him out." AJ speaks in a low voice. "He came home pissed out of his head and wrecked the house. She told him to pack his bags and not come back until he'd sorted himself out."
