A special one in honor of the one year anniversary of Big Hero 6!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke late into the night. When I roll to my side, I see that the clock reads 2:30 am. I smile a bit.
Carefully, I get out of my bed, trying not to wake Tadashi who lay next to me. His breathing quiet and even.
I slowly open my closet door, hoping that it won't creak too loudly. And on a shelf above my clothing, I see the box on my right. Standing on my toes, I grab it now, sliding it towards me off of the shelf. I admire the design of the wooden box as it sits in my arms. Detailed (favorite flowers) on a white background. The flower stems swirling around.
I set the box down on the carpet of my bedroom floor. I run my fingers across the edge, and lift the cover. The box is half filled with photos and small trinkets. I pull out the stack of pictures closest to the top and lean over to grab my desk lamp. I switch it on next to me, illuminating the box and the pictures in my hand. I flip through the various pictures of Tadashi and I, together. The picnic we went on last month, our trip to an amusement park, the first Christmas we spent together, our first date, the night we first kissed, it was all there.
I hear a shuffling from behind me.
"(Y/n)?" Tadashi's sleepy voice whispers.
"Good morning." I joke. Tadashi comes to sit down next to me, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me closer so I can rest my head on his shoulder.
"Looking through the box?" He asks me.
"Yep." I hold out the stack of pictures for him to see as I look through. I stop at one in particular. One of Tadashi, Honey Lemon, and me. I wear Tadashi's hat loosely on my head. I remember he put it there just before the picture was taken.
"I think this one's my favorite." I tell him with a smile. This was the day we met. He smiles back at me. Distracted by an object in the box, he reaches in and pulls out a (favorite flower). He gave that to me on our first date, and I had kept it. He holds it delicately in his hands now.
"Look at us back then. We were so... different." He's right. Although we look almost exactly the same, there's something not quite there yet. "I knew I liked you from the minute I met you." He tells me.
"Really?"
"Of course. You're very cute, and I picked up on that fast." I let out a breathy laugh.
"So much has changed since then." I say, looking at the glint of the precious gemstone on my finger.
"It sure has." He puts the flower back with care, and kisses my forehead. "Happy anniversary, (y/n). I love you."
"I love you too, Tadashi. Happy anniversary."
