When Lies Become Reality (On Hold)

Chapter 11

 "W-What d-do y-you mean th-they're out of j-jail?" I stutter holding on to Josh for support.

"They broke out last night." Officer Bryant says.

"Who's they?" Josh asks looking extremely worried.

 "Anthony Howell and Gregory Jones." I say through my tears my voice shaking and cracking.

"Who are they?" Josh asks and I tell him I will tell him everything later but for now we need to go with officer Bryant.

Officer Bryant told us there was a note in their jail cell basically saying they were going for me because it was my fault they were in jail in the first place.

"So, they blame me and they are coming for me?" I ask in a low voice even though I know the answer.

"I'm afraid so." says officer Bryant.

Josh holds me closer and says "Worst first date ever!" I laugh from the back seat and officer Bryant turns around and looks at me like I'm crazy.

"Sorry, it's just we were kind of on our first date and he made a joke because he thinks joking while my life is in danger is a good idea!" I say turning my head towards Josh slowly as I say it. When I see the look on his face I realize he didn't really know these people wanted to kill me.

"What did they do to you?" Josh whispers to me as we pull into our drive way. When Jen see's the police car she instantly runs through the door and when Josh and I step out she nearly loses it.

"Relax Jen we didn't do anything. And we weren't in a car accident and nobody's dead."'Josh says. I mumble not yet and he glares at me.

"Okay, so if nobody's dead then why were you escorted home by the police?" Jen asks and when John hears the word police he comes out of the house. Jen was screaming so the whole neighbourhood was probably listening by now.

I let go of Josh's hand and walk over to Jen and John. Since they know about everything that happened I just look at them with worried expressions and say "They're out of jail." A small and terrified sob leaves Jen as she wraps her arms around me and kisses my head much like my mother used to do. 

"They won't touch you!" John growls almost incomprehensibly. Then he walks over to Officer Bryant probably to ask what they are going to do.

"How about you come inside and we will explain everything?" Jen says to Josh who was a lot closer to us then I noticed. Josh has a look on his face I can't explain and he nods his head as we go into the living room.

I explain to him that these people kidnapped me and probably intended to rape me three years ago.  I tell him everything that happened and how the tortured me for days until someone finally found me and the two phsycopath's got arrested. By the time I finished I had shed more tears then I thought possible and Josh's face is filled with sympathy and hatred.

~Josh's P.O.V.~

I sit and listen intensely to everything Stephanie is telling me. I listen to her tell me that those sick bastards tortured her for three days. She said she was unconscious through most of it because of the blood loss. She said that they had went to jail and that they broke out. The only thing I could think was that this girl is so much stronger than I thought. And I felt bad that she had to be this strong. But mostly I had hatred towards the men who did this to her. Why? Why would someone kidnap a little girl and torture her almost to death?

"I'm so sor-" was all I got before she cut me off.

"I'm sick of those words damn it!" she yells causing me to jump. Jen had left to give us some privacy but I can only imagine that she would have jumped too.
