Two weeks had passed since that heated night. Shaé stuck around because of a security detail for Luciana and Luciana kept to her word. For the past two weeks she had drilled ancient knowledge and numbers into my brain. I understood these creatures better now because of it. My fear of them had vanished, replaced only by appreciation. They had achieved wonders in a number of years where it took human kind to do them in millenniums. They weren't monsters.
Luciana also kept to her word that said she will be strict and very unpleasant until her lovers came back to her with news from their regions. But I was confused.
Over the weeks, she had ensnared me with her heated talks and passion filled lectures. Her walk alone enraptured me. The gentle sway of left and right. Curves gracefully swaying as she went on her endless rants about how their kind has stopped countless of human wars without the humans knowing it. She was perfect.
So was Shaé.
It was a hot summer day, when finally Luna relaxed again. Our training had been completed the day before, so it was time to finally let loose. I stood in the kitchen, water in hand, fan in the other. Sweat poured from my skin in fountains and I felt disgusted by it. Shaé walked in, her sarong hanging low around her hips, her bikini barely clinging to her breasts. She looked fine.
"How are you not fucking dying of the heat?!" I exclaimed, thrashing my arms in the air. "She really only taught you politics, didn't she?" Shaé asked, irritated. I gave her a puzzled look. "I am a vampire. I am cold. I have no heat. I have no blood pumping in my veins. So I can't get hot. Although I already am..." she trailed off and winked to me. I smirked. "Yes you are." I purred and walked to her.
Now it was her turn to look puzzled. So I stopped dead in front of her and laughed. She gave me an irritated grunt and walked out the back door, probably to go 'tan', even when she couldn't.
Casually, I stalked to Luna's study, hoping she wouldn't be occupied. She wasn't, so I walked in. Her eyes were always her true ones nowadays, as if she didn't care to show the world what she was. "You are over working yourself." I stated, earning me yet another irritated look. "What the hell is up with you two today? Am I really that big of a bother to you guys?" I threw back, my anger spiking. "You are very clingy as of late, wanting my approval for just about anything. Why is that?" she asked, keeping her eyes on the papers in her hands.
"I don't know! Maybe because I want to please you!" I fired back at her. She looked up, giving me an amused smile. "Darling, it isn't that you are a bother, it is just that I am in ruler mode until I can stop whatever is happening in my world. Have you seen me loving Shaé all that much either lately?" she lowered her voice to a patronising tone. "No." I answered, curt and precise. "Exactly! Now if you'll excuse me, I have more work to do." she turned back to her work and I sighed. "Fine." I muttered and left.
The rest of the day went by in dull aimless sequences. Nothing interesting happens when the most interesting person is busy doing paper work. So I reverted to old habits. Playing music and dancing along to it through the house. Trust me, I wasn't the most elegant dancer, or the most qualified, so I basically looked like a chicken that got its head chopped off. I kid you not.
I was having a bit of fun, prancing around, thinking I was a ballerina, up until I heard Luciana scream in outrage. I heard a loud crack and then she was down the stairs, faster than my eyes could comprehend. I cringed. "Where is Shaé?!" she hollered my way, making me double in on myself. I didn't answer, so she strode to me. "Where. Is. Shaé?" she bit out in my face and I simply pointed to the back yard. She nodded and walked off.
For a few seconds, all was quiet, then Shaé gasped, a sob following it. Quietly, I walked to the back door, seeing Luciana clutch Shaé for dear life. Jealousy sparked. So I let it control me. "Yeah, you don't give Shaé attention at all." I bit out sarcastically. Luna turned on her heel, leaving Shaé. "What?" she asked, glaring at me. "You heard me." I folded my arms in front of my chest, huffing. It was still a sore subject, the one where I slept with them, now they didn't want me to even touch them. "Cassidy's fucking court got raided, by YOUR fucking father! She is badly injured, doctors don't know if she'll fucking live and here you fucking are, jealous because I am consoling my wife! Grow the fuck up Abney!" she screamed and I flinched.
Maybe I was getting too clingy...
