All in Good Time ch3

CHAPTER 3

The ideal chitchat died down and Mum told me an Elder from the council had come in to address the crowd.
"Welcome everyone in the Savage Howlers pack, my name is Elder Evan for those of you that don't know, I am very glad to introduce you to the new Alpha to this pack, Alpha Michael Dena."
"Thank you Elder Evan for the introduction. I am indeed your new Alpha but please call me Michael. I know that I am young to be your next Alpha and some of the older pack members may question my ability, I ask of you, all of you, to judge on what I do for this pack and not my age. I will say that at twenty-four I have had all the training, both physical and mental, to be your Alpha or I would not have been given this opportunity. I will also say that this has been a struggle, having no mate by my side, but I got through all this to become stronger than I was, smarter than I was and have more of an understanding of how a pack can run to the best of its ability. To finish I will say this, please come to me if you have any problems or questions regarding our pack. Thank you."
'Wow' was all I could think. The Alpha sounded like a very good man and a good addition to the pack. A barbecue outside had been arranged as a welcome to the Alpha and was introduced to all his new pack members.
"It would seem that all of the single 'women' are trying to see if they are the new Alpha's mate."
Mum whispered into my ear, the disgust evident in her voice.
"We'll go over in a few, see if we can have a meeting in private, though it might not be today."
"It's ok Mum, I don't mind waiting. Can you tell me what he looks like?"
"Of course sweetie, he is about 6"3 with black hair and green eyes. Looks very friendly."
"Thanks Mum."
She knew I had only a vague idea what black and green looked like, I had blurry vision in wolf form but still liked people to let me know, keep me in the loop. Also it was fun to freak out people you've never met by saying something like "love your red hair" then using a cane to assist my walk away. This is why a few of the pack don't like me much, Mum seems to think that they are jealous because they know I'm a rare wolf but no-one knows how rare I really am. I have never let anyone but my Mum see my wolf, for the obvious reason that she has to help me about. Elzar and I together can see a little bit, so for that am grateful. But because they can't know I'm the blue wolf I have only turned into my wolf on a moonless night, so I don't get to see very much anyway. Maybe someday that will change.
"Time to go over now sweetheart. He seems to be free." After guiding me over I could hear Mum talk again.
"Alpha Dena, I would like to welcome you to the pack. My name is Anne Good and this is my adopted son Conner. We were wondering if we could have a chat in private."
She said while shaking his hand.
"Of course, but please call me Michael. We can go to my office the now if you like."
We went through the pack house to the office at the far right of the building. Mum had told me before that the office was quite big with a large wooden desk in the middle of the room. I was starting to get nervous with what we had to say and Elzar was going crazy in my head when the most amazing thing happened, a big hand engulfed mine and with one word started the change of everything.
"Mate. I have waited a long time to meet you."
