CHAPTER 29

To say lunch was interesting would be an understatement. Gavin, my dear sweet overprotective boy. After threatening all of our new comers with bites on the bum if they hurt his mum, he told them all where to sit and not one of them said a thing. It was so hard for me and Michael not to laugh but we found out that Gavin had Alpha blood so we were proud that he was so protective.
"Gavin me and daddy are happy you want to protect me but you can't threaten everyone we bring into this house. I promise I check them all out before they can even enter the pack lands. I don't want you in danger either, ok."
"Ok Mum but I just want to look after you like you do me and Richard and Daddy and everyone."
"I know that you do. That is what makes me very happy, that you are my little hero. Just remember that it's alright to just be my little boy."
"You're so good with him. I didn't know what to say after he threatened everyone with a bite on the bum, I was too busy trying not to laugh but you knew what the reason was behind the action."
"I just know what that feeling is like at that age. Any disability makes you grow up differently, like you have to prove that your not broken even if it's just to yourself so you try to act older or help more to make up for it. I know that is not the case but at that age it feels like it."
"I can't say that I know what that's like but I'll try to help as much as I can baby."
After lunch we went to the office and the Elder introduced us to the rest of his group. We knew of Fred the werebear who was also the Elders bodyguard. Two had spirit power, Mavis was a werewolf but Jason was a Djinn he had more powers but spirit was his main. We had Ally who was as small as me and was a Banshee. Zero was the oldest but he was also immortal as he was a Phoenix. The last two I had never heard of before Oliver was a Bakeneko, he could turn into a ghost cat and Cleo was an Adarna, she was the medic of the group, she could heal but also put someone to sleep and if necessary turn them to stone.
"Michael, I have already discussed this with Conner but I would like you to wear this charm that will stop you from being affected by powers if you are targeted. All you have to do is put it on your wrist and it will merge with the skin no one would know afterwards."
"This will also stop me attacking you as I get more pregnant. I need to know that you are safe even if it's from me."
"Baby I'm glad that you and the Elder are looking out for me."
After doing as instructed we all watched as the charm disappeared and for a few seconds a bubble of energy surrounded him then it was if nothing had happened.
"Elder I would like to test this out but for safety I suggest that we show you what we found and we can test there."
Michael sent a notice with the pack link that no one was to go to the pack house for the next couple of hours due to visitors from the council if there were any problems to speak with Andrew or Alex. Just as we were about to walk out Mum knocked on the office door.
"Sweetie just to let you know me, Gwen and Eve are going to take to boys shopping for clothes. We'll be back in time for dinner."
"Okay Mum see you later."
We all made our way to the hidden door and down to the first set of rooms. Disgust was evident on everyone's face at the torture room. I was very happy that the guy's had finished packing all the equipment we found. We directed the group towards the office where we found Billy and Des.
"Uncle I'm very glad you're here. From what we have found it seems that the old Alpha poisoned his father to gain the title when he overheard him talking with the Beta about going to the council to get someone else to take over here when he was ready to retire. The Beta was also killed unfortunately before he could contact us, it was reported that he died in a rogue attack. The files in this room go back at least 35 years."
I could feel the rage coming from everyone in the room, for not only had two good people been killed but this man was able to get away with this level of evil for that long.
"Michael, open the door please. My powers are fluctuating with the emotions in the room."
I closed my eyes and concentrated on happier thoughts but still heard Michael telling the group about finding the collar and letter. How Reece had known that Elzar's next return would be different and preparations would be needed. With that said I heard the stone wall move and Michael took me into his arms which helped a lot.
"Conner, are you okay?"
"I'm sorry, everyone's emotions was causing my powers to fluctuate. I'm fine now but it does seem that it's not just my feelings that can affect me."
"Hey just relax, the Elder is going to help you get control of your emotions. Until then I promise not to piss you off to much."
And just like that he was making me laugh and calm down all in one.
"Thank you, I needed that."
