Killian drove. Even though it was raining hard, they still went. He draped his leather jacket over Emma's head, like it was an umbrella. They got into the building, moments before the motorcycle pulled up across the street from Killian's navy blue car. The man on the motorcycle covered his bike up, then took shelter in the bookstore.

Emma and Killian walked into the restaurant, got checked in, then got their table in the back. Killian pulled the chair out for her, and she sat down. She gripped his hand that was in a small fist on the table.  He looked up at her eyes and smiled.

"You know love, this would be the first quiet moment that we have had. No one is after us or trying to break us up." He said with an eyebrow raised.

"It's still early in the evening. Don't jinx us." Emma said with a laugh.

He smiled, and leaned over giving her a kiss on the cheek, then whispered in her ear. "You really look gorgeous Swan."

Emma blushed, and turned her head as he pulled away. He sighed and moved her head back. "Stop it."

"I'm sorry! I told you I can't help it!" Emma said waving her hands for emphasis.

"We have been together for a year, yet you still blush when I complement you. Why?"

"I don't know. I told you before, I'm not used to it. You are the only boyfriend who complimented me. My parents were the only other people to say things like that to me."

He grabbed her hands. "And I told you before that you were going to have to get used to it."

She smiled and a waiter came around with their drinks. They both ordered a plate of pasta. She twirled it around on her fork, and ate it. She looked over at the door, and she thought she saw him. She went paralyzed with fear.

"Emma? What's wrong?" Killian asked rubbing his fingertips on her hand and arm.

"I-is that Neal?" She asked nodding her head to the door.

He whipped his head around. The guy did look like Neal. Killian turned back to Emma and looked at her fear stricken eyes. "He doesn't know where we are. That can't be him. Besides, that guy is too short."

Emma nodded then snapped back to reality. They both finished their plates before going home. The rain was still coming down, and he used his jacket as an umbrella for her again. He opened her door, and let her in, then made his way to the drivers side. He sat down and stared at the road.

"What's wrong?" Emma asked putting her hand on his knee.

He looked over at her. "Did I ever tell you about my past love?"

Emma shook her head. "I was always curious, but I never asked. I figured that you weren't ready."

He nodded slightly. "My dad. The whole reason we moved was because my father left. He was a drunk, and he was a runaway criminal. My mother didn't think that I knew, but I did. One night, my father left, to avoid capture. I-I never said goodbye, and neither did he. That's why we moved to Maine. My mother couldn't take care of the house that we lived in by herself, so she decided to move us across the country." Killian looked over at her. "I didn't think that there would have been any good reason of leaving my home, but I found one."

Emma smiled. "And what was it?"

"Don't you know Emma? It was you."

Tears welled in her eyes and she moved out of her seat and hugged him.

"I'm sorry about your dad." She whispered in his ear.

"Don't worry about it love. It's over now. He is either in Canada, caught, or dead. He didn't deserve to know you. I'm glad I moved."

Emma nodded and they started their ride home. She snuck glances at him, and he did the same. The rain let up by the time they were home. Emma went into the bathroom while Killian went into the bedroom. She looked at herself in the mirror, and her makeup was running due to the rain. Without hesitation, she removed it and stripped herself of her dress.

"Hey Killian? Can you get me some clothes?" She yelled.

He came in with one of his shirts and handed it to her. She nodded a thanks and put it on. After changing, they both went into the bedroom. Emma was reading a book, and Killian was watching her eyes flutter across the pages.

"You are so cute." He said watching her.

Emma laughed. "You've said that before."

"Have I? I haven't noticed."

She laughed again and put the book down, then laid her head on the pillow and looked into his eyes.

"What do you think college is going to be like?"

Killian shrugged. "I'm not sure, but it's going to fine with you."

Emma blushed again. "Quit it!"

"Quit what? Complimenting you?"

She nodded.

"Oh but I can't. See, having a girlfriend isn't a privilege, it's a responsibility. You always have to keep her happy, and in your arms." Just as he said, Killian hugged Emma. He kissed her as well.

The flash went off in the street yet again. Killian pulled away and looked down in the dark, damp, pitch black road.

"What's wrong?" Emma asked looking at him.

"I swear I just saw a camera flash go off in the street." He said looking around for a figure moving in the night.

"You're tired. You're eyes could be playing tricks on you." She patted the space beside her. "I'm sure it's nothing."

He nodded and laid down. She snuggled up to him. "I just don't want anything to happen to you Swan."

Emma nodded. "I know, and I don't want anything to happen to you either."

He kissed the top of her head and fell asleep. What she wasn't telling him was that she has seen the flashes too. She just didn't want to worry him.

Little did they both know, was that they should have been worried.
