I followed Stacey into the house. She opened the doors to the kitchen. I walked through the doors and had to hold back a cough. A cloud of smoke was building up in the kitchen because there were at least twenty kids hot boxing the room. Stacey picked up a towel, wrapped it around herself and walked over to the counter.

The counter was completely covered in every type of liquor you could imagine. She started mixing a drink and I opened a window.

"You want anything? The liquor is here and in the fridge are some soda, juice and beer if you want that too." She said while taking a sip of her drink.

"Hey don't you think you should slow down a little bit? You’re going to make yourself sick." I said while crossing my arms and frowning.

"You sound like my bodyguards. You need to just get a drink and calm down." She said and shoved past me to the living room.

I rolled my eyes and followed. The living room was packed of people dancing and drinking. I could barely hear myself think in here. Stacey grabbed my hand and led me through the crowd toward the center of the dance floor.  She closed her eyes and started swaying her body to the beat of the music. I glanced around the room and spotted Mary and Peter sloppily making out on a couch near the back of the room.

They are obviously drunk. I thought to myself and moved my eyes to some very loud laughing. I saw Jamie and she was talking to a group of people about some incident that happened in one of her classes. It must have been pretty funny because everyone was laughing with her.  I glanced over to the stairs and there I saw Josh. He was leaning casually against the railing with a beer in his hand. I watched as a greasy blond haired boy walked up to him and whispered something in his ear while shaking his beer-less hand. Josh reached into his pocket and shook the boys hand again and the boy left with a big grin on his face.  Josh leaned back against the railing and his eyes met mine. My blood boiled instantly. He smiled a cocky smile and gave me a slight wink. I gave him my best death glare and he shifted uncomfortably.

I went to step forward to go punch that smirk off his face when I felt two big arms wrap around my waist. “Let's dance.” a male voice whispered into my ear. Chills ran down my back as his hot breath hit the side of my neck. I smiled slightly as I recognized the voice.

“You know I'd love to but I have no idea how to.” I said with a frown and turned around to face him.

Derek smiled my favorite smile, “What eight-teen year old girl doesn't know how to dance?” He teased.

“Ha ha ha” I said sarcastically, “I never found it useful to learn how to.” I shrugged my shoulders.

“Well you know that's how most the girls here are going to pay for their college. So actually it would be very useful if you think about it.” He said while poking my side. I rolled my eyes and laughed.

“Come on let me show you it's easy.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me a bit closer. I quickly looked to my side and saw Stacey in her same spot grinding with some girl while some guys stood around watching them.

“Don't worry I'm not expecting you to dance with me like that,” He nodded toward Stacey, “But by all means if you want to I'll be more than happy to oblige.” He laughed while wiggling his eye brows.

I slapped his chest and laughed with him.

“Okay now move into me a bit closer and just move your hips like this.” He pulled me even closer and placed his hands on my hips and moved them slowly side to side with the beat. I bit my lip nervously and moved my hips with his hands.
