(Pic to the side is Senator Jim Rogan >>>)
I stepped out of the room with all my belongings in place. I moved silently across the hall and into the study. I closed the door and unlocked my phone. I needed to call Boss and tell him about what Stacey said about Senator Rogan. I scrolled through my contacts and found him under Daddy. I chuckled softly about my choice of his contact name but that way if anyone flips through my phone it's inconspicuous. I hit dial and waited for him to answer.
*Ring*
**Ring**
I tapped my foot impatiently.
“Yes?” His familiar voice filled my ear.
“Sorry to bother you at this early hour Sir but I found out some interesting news last night about Rogan.” I said nervously. Boss was a very intimidating man. Even over the phone his voice was filled with authority.
“Go on.” His voice was always monotone. Never giving out clues to what he was thinking.
“Stacey told me that her mom found a bag of coke in his desk. So now on top of everything we have to worry about what scum he is buying drugs from.” I said irritated at the new situation.
“Hmm that is very interesting information Rece. I'll have Tiereny look into this for me. He did some work on this a few years back. I'll inform of the current situation and he will contact you with any details.” A huge smile instantly took over my lips. Scott Tiereny is my Uncle. I remember him talking to me about trying to fish out the drug lord who was supplying the city with illegal weapons, drugs and human trafficking. He got a lot of information, just no leads to who the drug lord was. Apparently he was very good about hiding his tracks.
“Due to the drug involvement I'm going to assign another agent to aide you in this case. I will start looking through profiles and notify you when I'm sending some one there. Expect to hear from me in a few weeks.” And with that he hung up.
I was absolutely furious! I couldn't believe he is going to send another agent to help me. I didn't need any help! I was doing just fine all by myself. It was just another person I'm going to have to baby sit.
“Ugh!” I grunted and stormed out of the study. I walked back to Stacey's room and heard her in the shower. I flopped back down on the couch and waited for her to come out.
“Well at least I'll be able to talk with my uncle again.” I said to myself. When someone from the agency was on an assignment it was almost impossible to talk to them. They were always busy doing their work or somewhere there was no cellphones let alone any service. I heard the door to the bathroom open.
“Ugh Liz I'm so glad you’re here. I thought you left with everyone else.” She said while dragging her feet to her closet.
She started to look for something to wear when my phone went off. I looked at it and saw a new message from Derek.
'Good morning! :) How's Stacey?'
I looked over at Stacey to see her lying on the floor in a pair of cotton shorts and a slightly baggy t-shirt. One hand was clutching her stomach and the other was over her eyes. I quietly laughed at her.
'Good morning. She looks extremely hung over.' I replied back.
'Well you did warn her! I bet she feels like she got ran over from her jumping from the balcony.'
I laughed at the memory of her jumping. She did hit the water really hard.
“Ugh, what are you giggling at over there? Lover boy texting you?” Stacey asked as she sat up to look at me.
