"No, you can't separate us." I argue with them.
"Is there a problem?" Finnick asks.
"No, no. It's fine," I sigh. "See you at midnight, Peeta," I say, kissing him on the lips.
"Midnight," he repeats.
I start to walk away from Peeta, staring back as his figure begins to become smaller and smaller.
Soon enough, he is out of sight.
"Pick up the pace, Brainless. I want to put as much distance between me and this beach when the lightning hits," Johanna says, sharply.
I sigh and start to tug on the coil, only to find that the wire is stuck.
I pull back just hard enough, and the wire starts flying toward me.
Somebody cut it.
That's when Brutus and Enobaria come running out from behind the bushes.
It all happens in a blur.
Johanna takes her knife and cuts deeply into my forearm. She rubs the blood on my neck.
"Stay down," she hisses.
Why would she try to kill me? Oh yeah, we are in the games.
I lie there for a moment, thinking about all of this.
That's when he comes to mind.
Peeta.
I have to find him.
I get off the ground with all of the strength I have. I trek through the jungle, searching and searching.
That's when I see him, the same as me. His forearm is cut and blood is smeared on his neck. He is lying down on the ground.
"Peeta!" I yell.
"K-Katniss? What did they do to you?"
"I don't know, Peeta. Get up. We need to hide."
We run to a big tree, not the lighting tree, and hide behind its shelter.
"Katniss?!" Finnick screams, running towards us. He obviously can't see us.
I string my bow, ready to release. That's when he sees me.
"Katniss, remember who the real enemy is." Finnick pants.
Haymitch's words.
It is not Finnick's fault we are in this arena, that I'm about to kill him. I know exactly who's fault this is.
Without thinking, I run over to the wire, tying it around my arrow. I aim it towards the sky, and the lighting begins to form.
"Katniss." Peeta breaths. "Katniss! No!"
It's too late. I release my arrow into the forcefield, just as the lighting hits.
I am blown off my feet.
I look over to my right and see Peeta.
I'm about to choke out, "Stay with me," but that's when a tree falls on top of me.
I try to scream, but I don't have the energy.
I am paralyzed, so I cannot move. I try to inch away, but it just will not happen. I try to call for Peeta, but I cannot speak at all.

What is happening?

I have no idea.

I am suffocating.

I will die.

This is how I'm going to die.

I'm kind of disappointed. I survived two games, the seam, and the districts my whole life. This is how I'm dying.

I start losing consciousness. I can feel myself slipping away, but I try not to let that happen. I will not let myself die. I cannot die, after all I have been through.

I feel rough hands jerk me up, and a sack is placed over my head.

I would scream and kick, but I know I can't, so I don't even try. I just let them take me away.

I eventually slip away into a deep sleep, in which I know I might never wake up.
