"We have to move." I hear Boggs say. "Incoming Peacekeepers from the North."

I groan slightly as I get up, remembering last night. I grab my bow and we all run out. Boggs has he holo in hand. We have to be careful not to set off any pods.

I occasionally look over to Peeta. And he's always staring at me. I know we will get over this at some point, but now is not the time.

Prim is up ahead. She's really fast. If one of us were to get hurt, she'd be by their side in seconds. She has a small backpack with a first-aid kit in it, and her suit has a cross in the middle.  I'm still not sure why she was absolutely needed on this mission. A first-aid kit won't really do anything for a bullet wound.

We stop at a good place for propos. I honestly hate making propos and with a passion.

"Okay Katniss. Take your arrow and shoot it through those two buildings." Cressida says, and I do. Fire explodes between them, and I know it would wipe out anybody who stood there.

We keep running. This whole thing was a bad idea.   I know I'm going to die. Or someone I love. I just have this bad feeling stirring deep in my chest.

The holo starts to beep really fast, and we stop. Boggs detects it and throws a rock in its direction. All of a sudden, big machine guns start shooting and we all take cover. Prim freaks out and covers her ears.

The guns stop and I rush over to her. "I am Primrose Everdeen. I am Primrose Everdeen." I hear her say over and over again.

"Prim please! You're okay. You're okay." I cop, stroking her hair. Everybody is staring at us. "It's alright. You're fine." She eventually calms down, and we get up.

Cressida takes out her camera, calling "Action!"
We slowly proceed down the hazy street. Everyone has at least one section of Windows to blow out, but Gale's assigned the real target. When he hits the pod, we take cover- ducking into doorways or flattening onto the pretty, light orange and pink paving stones- as a hail of bullets once again sweep back and forth over our heads. After a while, Boggs orders us forward.

Cressida stops before we can rise, since she needs some close-up shots. We take turns reenacting our responses. Falling to the ground, grimacing, diving into alcoves. We know it's supposed to be serious business, but the whole thing feels a little ridiculous. Especially when it turns out I'm not the worst actor in the squad. Not by a long shot. We're all laughing so hard at Mitchell's attempt to project his idea of desperation, which involved teeth grinding and nostrils flaring, that Boggs gas to reprimand us.

"Pull it together, Four-Five-One," he says firmly. But you can see him suppressing a smile as he's double-checking the next pod. Positioning the holo to find the best light in the smokey air. Still facing us as his left foot steps back onto the orange paving stone. Triggering the bomb that blows off his legs.

It's as if in an instant, a painted window shatters, revealing the ugly world behind it. Laughter changes to screams. Fun changes to horror.

"Boggs!" I scream, barely able to get anything out. I run over to him, taking his hand. His next words are an order. "The Holo."

The Holo. I scramble around, searching for it, when my hand comes across its hard surface. I hand it to him.

"Unfit for command. Transfer of prime security clearance to Squad Four-Five-One Soldier Katniss Everdeen." It's all he can do to turn the Holo towards me. "Say your name."

"Katniss Everdeen." I say into the green shaft. Suddenly, it has me trapped in its light. I can't move or even blink as images flicker rapidly before me. Scanning me? Recording me? Blinding me? It vanishes, and I shake my head to clear it. "What did you just do?"
"Prepare to retreat!" I hear Finnick yelling something back, gesturing to the end of the block where we entered. I see black, oily matter spouts like a geyser from the street making its way towards us.

"Boggs-" he cuts me off.
"Don't trust them. Kill Prim. Do what you came to do."
What? Suddenly I see Rue before my eyes. Boggs and Rue keep switching places in my mind. She closes her eyes and lies her head back.

Deep in the meadow, under the willow.

I get up and start running, tears streaming down my face.

A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.

Boggs. Rue. Cinna. Mags. Dad.

Lay down your head, and close your eyes.

I wish I was with them. I wish we were all with our loved ones in heaven.

And when again they open, the sun will rise.

This song won't come out of my head. I look at Peeta. I look at Prim. I even look at Finnick and Gale. And images flash before my eyes.

Here it's safe, and here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm.

Two loaves of bread in the rain.
The tail of Prim's blouse sticking out.
A hand full of sugar cubes.
A squirrel that's been shot right through the eye.

Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true.

I stop dead in my tracks and fall to the ground. I can hear voices around me, but I can't make out what they are saying. But then I feel strong arms wrap around me, and I know who they belong to.

The last line of the song races through my head, pounding on my skull.

Here is the place, where I love you.

I look up into his ocean blue eyes. And I make out two simple words that change so much.

"I'm sorry."
