A/N: If you haven't seen in the last chapter, I made a character aesthetic for Riley.

I then went back to my room, to resume my drawing. Minutes after I do so, theres a knock at my door.

"Come in." I say loudly, just enough for the person to hear.

"Hey." Josh says, opening up the door. "Do you know-"

"Yes, I do. I eavesdropped from the stairs." I tell him, as he nods. "I'm fine."

"Just making sure." he says, then smiles slightly. "So your birthday is soon."

"Oh yeah huh." I smile. "I'll be twenty one."

"Yep." he says. "So how are you gonna break it to mom?"

"I figured during dinner. She'd ask how my day was, then I'd tell her." I say, as he nods.

"Tyler's coming for dinner to, if thats okay." he says.

"Of course it is. Its fun hanging out with him." I smile, as he nods. I then think of when he found me on the beach, and how he held my hand. I thought it was nothing, because friends hold hands too. It didn't seem that way though. I felt like something was there once he did that, but I shook it off.

I didn't even notice Josh left, so I put my headphones back in my ears. I then got up and locked the door, which is how I liked to have it whenever I'm in here alone. I started to overthink the whole holding hand situation, which immediately made me not want to go downstairs for dinner when the time came. So once I heard the faint sound of my mom calling my name, I turned up the volume on my phone. I could faintly hear the sound of my door knob wiggling over Billie Joe singing Jesus of Suberbia, which makes me look back. Josh stood in the doorway, giving me a look as I rolled my eyes and took my headphones out.

"I'm not even going to question how you opened the door." I say to him, as he smirks.

"The magic of having a credit card." he says, as I laugh slightly.

"I guess this is the part where I go downstairs." I say, as he nods. Already at the dinner table was everyone waiting for me, as I grabbed a plate. The family went on with the conversation they started moments before, as I stared at my plate of food. I wasn't really in the mood for eating, so I shuffled around in my seat and picked at the food. Eventually, my mom asks about college.

"So, how was college today?" she asks me, as I cringe. I wasn't as prepared as I thought to tell her.

"Mom, I think I want to drop out of college." right as those words came out, everyones fork dropped out of their hands in shock. Tyler even stared at me in shock, as I shrug. Josh had his normal look on his face, but I knew he had the same feeling I did. She was about to start a fight.

"After all that hard work, and after all that money-" she starts, as I cut her off.

"In case you've forgotten, I don't know anything about what the hell I'm learning about!" I exclaim, standing out of my chair.

"Riley, language." she scolds.

"Don't scold me for that. Every since this happened, you keep treating it like I would be the same as I was before." I say, starting to feel myself cry. "You have not even thought about what its like for me! I'm confused, and half of the time I don't know whats going on! I could barely remember half of the people in my life! And here you are, just treating like nothing happened."

She stares at me in shock, as did everyone else. I wiped my tears, and turned around.

"I think I proved my point." I say, walking back towards my room. I faintly hear my mother apologize to Tyler, which causes me to shake my head. I didn't want to do anything else that day, but around ten minutes after I slammed my door there was a knock. Josh and Tyler entered the room, as I mentally groan.

"You okay?" Josh asks, as I nod.

"I said what needed to be said." I tell him. "Are you gonna scold me for it?"

"No, I'm not. Because I agree with you." he tells me, as I nod.

"I do also." Tyler speaks up. "You're still figuring things out."

"Exactly." Josh tells me. "Don't worry too much about it, okay?"

"Okay." I say, as he smiles and nods.

"What are you gonna do now?" he asks, as I shrug.

"I'll figure it out." I shrug. "For now, whats you're next move in your band?"

"We're releasing a song in February." Tyler says.

"May I get a sneak peak at it?" I ask, smiling a bit.

"Maybe." Josh says. "Just maybe."
