She sat on the sofa staring at her phone in her left hand while trying not to break down into tears. She seemed to do this often but never had it hurt so much as it did today. Normally she would be in tears over the hurtful comments fans would give her, or over a book she had gotten into that ended really sadly but today felt so much different. The pain inside of her was a feeling of not only sadness but disappointment and depression.
It felt so much worse because today was a special day. One that now would only bring back terrible memories. One that only occurs once a year and is gone in a matter of hours. As she scrolled through her phone and her cousin’s text message saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N” popped up onto the screen she knew her decision was made.
She stood up from the sofa of the flat she shared with her boyfriend and started making her way to the bedroom down the hall. A sick feeling rose in her stomach and her palms started to get sweaty but she knew that wouldn’t stop her. Nothing would be able to stop the actions she was about to make.
Once she had got there she opened the cupboard door and grabbed all her clothes off the coat hangers in front of her. She placed them on the soft bed on the other side of the room and grabbed her big rucksack from under it. She chucked all her clothes into the bag and emptied anything else she could find in the room that was hers into it as well. After she zipped up the bag and checked the room just in case she had missed anything out she grabbed a pen and a piece of lined paper and wrote a little message for her boyfriend to read when he came home.
She picked up her bag and walked out of the bedroom knowing she would never see that room again but also knowing that the decision she was making wasn’t one she is going to regret. She tugged on her black boots and wrapped herself up in a big warm coat before she grabbed her phone, left the keys to the flat hanging on the sparrow house key holder and left the flat for the last time.
As she stepped into her red BMW and started the ignition she wondered what Louis’s reaction would be when he found out she had gone. She doubt he would be very shocked because he hadn’t even remembered her 21st birthday when her cousin who she barely ever talked to any more had even remembered it.
Little did she know that when Louis got home later that day and read the note saying “Maybe next time you won’t forget what’s special about today” he broke down into tears, cursing himself and his stupidity. He tried calling her 50 times that hour but never got the chance to apologise as she had blocked his number and deleted it off her phone forever.
She was done giving chances to someone who couldn’t even remember her own birthday. She was gone and she was never coming back.
