Ravenclaw's Unwanted

Mum and Dad Won't Like This One.........

We waited outside for only two minutes untilMcGonagall came back.

"We're ready for you, now." she said. We went into the door and I heard many voices, including my own, gasp in awe. The ceiling had been enchanted to look at the night sky. Floating candles lit the room. But, I was more distracted by the ceiling. Astronomy is my favourite science to study. All ways had been, all ways will be.

"When I call your name, step forward. Abbot, Hannah!" McGonagall yelled out. A pink faced girl that was next to me almost ran forward.

"HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat said. Everyone applauded and smiled happily at her and the Hufflepuff table. Then, Sniggering came from behind me. I turned around to see Alexis laughing at Hannah and Serria laughing with her. I gave them a mean look and turned back around. Another kid was at the chair. Name was called, and they went to Hufflepuff. Then others were called and they were sorted as well. I finally heard a familiar name.

"Gilligans, Serria!" she called. Serria passed by me as if I wasn't there. She sat down and put on the sorting hat. I took three seconds for him to shout, "SLYTHERIN!" Happily, she ran to the table to join the others.

Minutes had passed, until I heard another familiar name. "Malfoy, Draco!" The hat didn't even need to touch the kids head to know what his house was. "SLYTHERIN!" cheering took over the great hall again. Then, I heard my name....

"Manning, Remedy!" she called. I felt my face go pale. I felt the butterflies in my gut about to implode. I walked up to the chair and I sat down. I put on the sorting hat and heard it speak, "Humm, brave, clever and loyal, however, your heritage says otherwise...... Better be....... RAVENCLAW!!!!" It said. I got up and almost ran down to the Ravenclaw table. I took my seat next to a brown haired girl and a black haired boy who were also sorted that day.

"Hullo!" said the girl, "I'm Ariana Arias."

"Hi, I'm Remedy Mannings." I said.

"Your the one who's parents are close with the Malfoys right?" she asked.

"Yeah......" I said looking down shamefully. Ive forgotten about them already.

"Well, its not really your fault, right?"

"Yeah," I said more hopeful then before. "I don't even like Draco!"

"Yeah!" she said.

"I feel INVINCIBLE!" I said.

"OK, not that hopeful."

"Yeah, don't let the whole castle hear you,"I turned next to me and I saw a boy who was also sorted today. I felt like saying something to him too.

"Ello!" I said happily. "I'm Remedy!" I said optimistically.

"I'm Joel Evans." he said more relaxed then me. Well, I think every ones more relaxed then me around here.

"Now that we are all sorted, let the feast begin!" Dumbledor said. Then, before my eyes, the goblets filled with liquid and all the plates were filled with food.

"Wow!"

"Amazing......" Joel said.

"So, whats the story?" Ariana asked us.

"What do you mean?"

"Like, how did you get here and how did your parents take the fact that your a wizard?" she said. "Well, your parents knew right?"

"Well, no. I got grounded for a month, even though I cant help the fact that I am what I am."

"I get yea, Joel. My mums a muggle and my dads a Wizard. Really funny day when she found that out." Ariana said. "She didn't want me to come."

"What about you, Remedy?" Joel asked.

"Oh, both my parents are 'Purebloods, so, they knew this day would come." I said.

"Yeah, are'nt they friends with the Malfoys?" he asked.

"Yeah........ They wanted me in Slytherin"

"And...."

"I dont want to be."

"So what are you going to do?" Ariana said.

"Well, I know they wont be thrilled about this..." I said worried. "I'll just stay here for the holidays. I'll take care of them during summer."

"Well, you'll have to face them sooner or later, might as well do it now."

"Yeah, I guess. I'll just write them a letter." I said.

"Well, lets not worry about that right now." Ariana said breaking my train of thought. "What classes are you guys looking forward to?"

"Astronomy and History of Magic." I said.

"Apparently, History of Magic is really boring." said Joel.

"Well, what are you looking forward to?"

"Defence against the dark arts and Potions." he replied. "And, what are you getting all jittery about?"

"Herbology, Charms, and Transfiguration." she said happily.

"Wow, we only said two!" he said. "No wonder the sorting hat choose you for Ravenclaw." he said the last bit chuckling.

We made our way into the Ravenclaw common room and I started to write the letter to my mum and dad.

        Dear Mom and Dad,

How are you? I already arrived at Hogwarts and I have already been sorted. The house I'm in is Ravenclaw! I'm very happy here and I hope your happy for me. I already have two new friends. Ones a girl named Ariana Arias and the other is a boy named Joel Evans. We're in the same house and can't wait for classes to start tomorrow. Please respond soon.

"Let's see how this works." I said to my Eagle owl who I named Bliss. I let her go with the letter and jumped into bed, exhausted.
