*Tony's POV*
This wasn't right. It had to be a mistake. My wolf was confused or something, right? My mind was going a million miles an hour and it was clouded with the beautiful images of his face. Sweet and innocent, and scared. I scared him back there. More than I should have. I didn't mean to though, the growl just came out. I mentally kicked myself as I ran through the woods. The moist ground and leaves crunched beneath my paws. The cool air swept through my dark brown fur and ears as I ran my way up the mountain.
After a while, I arrived at the spot where I usually come to to think. It was a small clearing with a cliff that overlooked my land and the school grounds. I shifted back to my human form, putting on the shirt and pants I had stashed just in case.
I don't understand why my mate was a male. I'm not gay or even bi curious for that matter. Why would the wolf spirits pair me with some fragile human boy? Is this my punishment for something?
I sat down on a flat rock near the edge of the cliff and pulled my knees up to my chest. Maybe I should talk to him. I mean, it's probably a mistake and the next time I look at him, nothing will happen. Slowly I shifted back and ran down the mountain back to the school. Classes ended a while ago but a lot of kids hang around after school.
I walked through the grounds searching for the sweet brown eyes I had looked into earlier. They were locked on a book in the hands of the innocent looking boy sitting under the tree. He had his headphones in and was quietly tapping his foot. God he looks adorable sitting like that. Wait, what did I just say?
My wolf was scratching at the surface and was pushing me to go to him. I felt this strong flow of calm energy surround me. It was all emanating from him. I took a few steps towards him and his uniquely sweet scent enveloped my senses. A small growl slowly escaped my mouth. I was in heaven simply standing the few yards away.
"Hey newbie! Yo new kid!" A member of the soccer team, and my pack, came walking towards him. The rest slowly following while muttering something to each other.
"Heads Up Fag!" The guy yelled. Before I knew it, a soccer ball went flying through the air at a speed only a wolf could produce. It went straight at his head and knocked him to the side. Subconsciously, I ran to his aid; picking up his head and examining the bruise forming on his right temple. Sparks exploded when our skin touched; making my body feel as though it was enveloped in an flame. As if the embers were softly kissing every inch of skin on me. The only way a wolf could feel this, was from his mate. There's no way I can deny it now.. Whoever this human boy is, he's my life mate. And right now, a member of my pack hurt him.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I grabbed Daniel, a simple pack wolf, and pinned him to the tree by his neck. My blood was boiling at the sight of my mate lying there unconscious.
"Calm down man! He's fine!"
"Fine?! He's fucking knocked out!"
"Why do you care so much Tony?!"
"That is none of your concern. Practice is canceled. Go home."
"You can't cancel practice. Only James can."
"I am Co-captain, and your future Beta. You will listen to me."
Using the power of command Betas and Alphas had, I stood my ground and waited for their compliance.
"Tony, that's enough." James' voice was loud and clear, and I released my grip on the pathetic pack member that hurt my mate.
"Daniel, go home. Practice is canceled until further notice. And you need to learn to respect your Beta. He shouldn't have to use commands on you."
