*Tony's POV*

The smell woke me from my sleep. A sickly sweet smell that I hadn't recognized. A mixture of honeysuckle and mint.

I slowly removed myself from Stephen's side and slipped on my jeans. We were in the guest room of the pack house and by the discussions that were taking place downstairs, I knew I wasn't the only one awoken from the scent.

"What are we going to do John?"

"I'm not sure. It's different this time."

It was my Uncle John and my dad. They were standing in a circle in front of the door with a few of the War Wolves.

"Why can't we just kill it?" Kyke said. His rough voice standing out amoungst the elders.

"Because he hasn't done anything. And he seems extremely confused." My dad said.

"So? His kind is unpredictable."

"We aren't stone cold killers Kyle. We can't go around eliminating anything that isn't a werewolf." My uncle's voice was unwavering; his decision already made.

"Clearly. No one has done anything about the warlock asleep upstairs."

"And what exactly is it that you feel should be done about him, Kyle?" I spat his name. Who does he think he is? Speaking down to Stephen.

"He should be taken care of! What the hell has gotten into this pack?! Gay Betas, Warlock mates, and an alliance with a witch?! What's next huh? Are we gonna let that leech feed off of one of the pack members whenever it gets hungry?" His arrogant tone and vile language about his own pack was enough to have me seeing red.

But before I had the chance to lunge at him, I felt the calming touch of Stephen. Sparks cascading down my spine; soothing my heated body. I looked down at him and his sweet smile.

"What's got everyone so worked up?"

"None of your business." Kyle said, causing me to growl angrily at him. He really was getting on my nerves.

"Actually, it is his business. In fact, it's more his than it is yours. You may be the head War Wolf but that doesn't not put above Stephen. In case you haven't realized, he's the mate of your future Beta. Would you talk to Tony's mother like that?" My uncle asked.

"No, sir."

"Now, to fill the two of you in, one of the pack members was out for a run when she came across an unfamiliar scent and the strong, lingering odor of blood. She followed the scent and found this young man unconcious and covered in blood."

"Is he hurt?" I felt the twinge of fear and worry in Stephen's voice.

"The blood wasn't his. It was animal blood." My dad interjected.

"This young man, actually isn't a young man. Not anymore."

"What is he?" Stephen asked.

That's when I connected the dots. Strange scent, blood...

I looked passed my dad and uncle to the guy on the couch and noticed the paleness of his skin.

"He's a vampire."

"A what? Tony, I thought they were extinct?"

"They were. But this one isn't like the ones we've seen before. His human side seems to be clinging to him. His becoming of this wasn't his choice. Not entirely." My Uncle explained.

He was right. My wolf was more inclined to help him than hurt him.

"That's why he smells differently, right? His human scent is mixing with the darker part of him."
