A/N: This can be triggering. If you don't like mentions of death and violence, please do not read.
Well, as I write this, there must be a couple far away from me, holding on to their only daughter's hand, as she struggles for her life. They are not the only one, but I speak on behalf of thousands of families, who have suffered and are suffering at the hand of terrorism.
Let us look at the facts:
What is terrorism?
Terrorism: (n) the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
As many of you must have guessed, the recent attacks on Paris and bombings in Bagdhad and Lebanon has compelled me to write this.
As aforementioned, simple political issues often lead to massive disruption is normal, peaceful and happy lives of people to destruction, grief and fear.
These people, according to me, are bolstered to commit such horrendous crimes due to their own personal feelings towards a community or country as a whole, or they might be brainwashed to such an inhumane extent that leads to minimization of humanity in a person. It could be also due to the fact that their personal, childhood experiences have been traumatic enough to force them to take such a step.
Any ways, it is truly said:
"Just because your pain is understandable, doesn't mean your behaviour is acceptable." -Steve Maraboli
Terrorism, as for now, is not the only one thing which is disgusting me, to say the least.
It is the fact that people go on to be racist and the entire religion or community just because one of them caused destruction.
No doubt, one goes through emotional trauma during such attacks. I speak from experience, because I've experienced such an attack in my city while I was only eight, and while I was lucky enough not to lose any of my loved ones to the attacks, the fear I went through night and day, fearing the terrorists closeness to my home.
This does not mean I go on insulting every Muslim in sight, hurling abuses at them!
Terrorism is definitely NOT a thing to be joked about, and if you do so, we might have a problem.
I stand with all the innocents. I don't care if they are American, Muslims, or belonging from any other religion and country for that matter. We're all human. Let us just live in peace and harmony!
I know, it is easier to say than to do, and hence I urge to propagate the message of equality.
The fact that one person from a particular community hurts you, does NOT mean that you will go on and destroy the entire community itself.
If any of you, living in such places under threat, are reading this at the moment, be safe. Don't leave house. It will eventually be all right and safe.
"I stand with peace, harmony and equality."
