PART 1
0927

Why was he looking at a picture of her? Well, if he looked closer at it, it seemed that she was sitting on the floor, next to the bed of a little boy. The little boy was sitting on the edge of the bed, one hand raised to wipe his face, maybe he was crying before and another hand holding a really tight to his left side. She seemed to be comforting him as one hand was on his knee. The picture was in black and white but the message of the picture came across pretty clear.

Someone was threatening her and her family and she knew the person. That's why there was no phrase or message on the piece of paper. But if you think about it, he thought, this indicates that this is not the first time of it happening.

He turned to her and realized that she was up against the wall, hand reached out to grab the pole and she was clenching it really hard, her whole body was shaking, quaking in fear. He had to do at least something to help her.

"You know what?" He reached past her and pressed the "p" button once and then reached for the ground floor, "I'm going to go and report this to security and we can see who bumped into you to put this in your jacket pocket.'

She was still shaking when he said that so he assumed that it was a yes. Quick thinking on the spot, he tentatively reached out a hand to wrap around her waist, she instantly curling into him, which made him feel like a boss. Well, technically he is the boss but that's just technicalities.

"It was either the 2nd or 3rd floor."

She spoke so quietly that he had missed it. He wanted her to repeat so he turned her so that she would repeat what she said.

"I think whoever put it in my pocket, got on the 2nd or 3rd floor. I remember being jostled with a briefcase but I brushed it off.

Tory honestly felt like rolling his head in annoyance. It happened in most of the horror books that he's read or even horror movies that he's seen. The main character will notice something  blatantly obvious but they just dismiss it, thinking nothing of it until something bad happens and that's when they remember what they tried to forget. Like, come on!

The lift went pretty quick as they got to the ground floor in no time. He turned back to her, still not knowing her name, gave he a look saying "stay here" and stepped out. Dragging a have across his face, he knew he would be in trouble with his P.A. when he finally arrived. Because of his 'help-a-damsel-in-distress'complex, he had probably missed the meeting with the elusive 'Ms. Colliens'. He had heard about her and wanted to see her work for himself firsthand so he could determine if she was good.

Unfortunately, as he looked down at his watch, he had missed the meeting that was scheduled at 9:30. Also, he needed to remind Percy, his P.A., to get him a new watch from Rolex, the one that he had on had broken off at the clicky-turny thingy. God knows what it was called but that's what he called it. Unbeknownst to him, Talia had already gone up in the elevator, having gotten over her sudden panic attack.

She shouldn't be acting like this, she thought sullenly. She saw him notice that the elevator doors were closing, but they were moving too slow for her. By the time he finally got to the doors, the elevator was already moving. Sorry, she thought and looked up to see what floor she was on now, thanks for the help but I didn't need it anymore. You won't see me like that again. Momentary panic, that's all.
