Percy

I checked my phone for what seemed to be the fifth time tonight. No text messages. No notifications. Placing one hand over another, I learnt against the glass wall barrier, looking out onto the sea of bodies that moved fluidly, with a rhythm. I moved away from the wall and was about to turn when a hand grabbed my shoulder lightly. When I turned around, I saw that it was Tory. Why was I so jumpy?

Tory must have noticed it because he left me for a second and came back with a drink. I didn't doubt that it wasn't vodka. Tory was a wild mess tonight. This was his last night as an entrepreneur. After tonight, he would become CEO of Marcovelli. Fashion. That's partly why we were here. Because this was the 'publicity' club. If you were anybody, you were meant to be here. If you wanted to be somebody, you had to get inside here. But why didn't I feel comfortable? Maybe if Primo comes, then I will settle. Maybe......

"What are you looking for tonight?"

I turned my head towards Tory and looked back amongst the crowd. What did I want? Did I even know myself? A  significant other...... The thought popped up in my mind and it didn't sound half bad. All my life, I had been stuck with my twin and, whilst it wasn't bad, it was hard getting with another person attached to you that wasn't Primo or didn't compare to him.

Primo had already got a girlfriend but he said that I'll meet her when he comes back from Trinidad and Tobago. I wanted to go with him but he said that it's strictly business. He looked me in the eye and didn't blink once. He even placed my hand over his heart and said it again, his heart rate not increasing one bit. Primo didn't need to do it because I was his twin but he felt like it.

When he wanted to prove himself, he would always do that. He wouldn't cheat on her. I knew that and he knew that.

"I'm looking for someone I can settle down with," When I mentioned this, Tory stopped short and his eyes widened a fraction before a passive look came on his face. He thought I wouldn't see that. I always do. "Don't be surprised. Primo's attached to someone other than me and I haven't even seen her yet. I think, from my own opinion, that at least I should start looking for someone."

There was a brief pause of reflection on our bachelor lives. Both of us haven't been in a stable relationship, and let's not even start with Tory. He was a wild card. He loved to follow his heart but sometimes, he could get hurt so he never counted on love in life and no matter how hard myself and Primo prompted him, he did not want to find someone to live his life with him just yet.

"Has anyone caught your eye yet?"

I looked around again. Nothing special yet in my sight and beauty does lie in the eyes of the beholder.
