Chapter One A Bond Stronger Than Elmar's Glue
My sister Cameron says that we have a bond stronger than Elmar's Glue and I believe it's true. Cameron was born with Tourette's and I have bipolar. After my mother gave birth to Carmeron and they said she had Tourette's she left us for dead. I was a ten year old with a new born baby, fending for myself and squatting in a abandoned appartment. Our father died in a car accident before Cameron was born and my mother was a prostitute after she left us.
I have sense raised Cameron and am being supported by the government and my boyfriend to keep my house. Thirteen years later and Cameron's condition has gotten worse and now she is prone to having seizures. I am now twenty-three and I home school her so she doesn't get bullied. She is very slow with learning things and she is at a second grade level at everything. I sit at the table doing a math exercise with her favorite thing to eat, cookies.
"Okay Cameron if I take two of the ten cookies you have how many will you have left?" I ask and take two of her cookies, brushing her light brown hair out of her eyes. It takes her a moment to figure it out and then she looks up at me and blinks hard. "E-eight!" She stutters and I nod and kiss the top of her head. "Good job, now if I give you the two back how many will you have?" "T-ten Ryan." "Good job... Now you may eat one and then I will put them up so you can enjoy them later." She obeys and takes one and hands me the ones on the platter but then she has a spasm and drops the glass platter, making it shatter.
"Oh no oh no oh no oh no!." She screams and starts rocking back and fourth shaking. "It's okay Cameron, it's okay it was a accident." I soothe while picking up the sharp shards and then one slices my palm. "Fuck!" I scream and hold my wounded hand close to my chest and then break down into tears. I tremble with sobs and then someone opens the door. "Cameron go to your room for a moment so I can calm down Ryan." My boyfriend Chris says quietly. Cameron walks into her room quickly and then he wraps his arms around me.
"Ryan, you're okay it's okay." He soothes rocking me back and fourth. "No god dammit! She could have gotten hurt instead of me and I couldn't of protected her!" He then kisses my lips gently and then breaks away, brushing some of the dark hair out of my eyes. "The good thing is she is safe and not hurt... But we need to clean you up." He brings me over to the sink and washes out the wound and wraps my hand. "There we go." He says and kisses my nose. "You're to good to me." I mumble and he kisses my lips gently. "You're to good to Cameron and me." He says in a quiet murmer against my lips and then he breaks away.
"Lets go check on her." I say and we walk into her room that is a calming blue and smells of Cherry Blossems because we have one out in front of her window. She is sitting there sobbing with her face in her hands and then I sit down next to her. "Cameron, I'm sorry for saying that word, I got frustrated." I say and she looks up. "I-I hurt you." I shake my head. "It was a small accident, it happens." Then I hug her close. "Stronger than Elmar's Glue?" She asks and I nod. "A bond stronger than Elmar's Glue. And I'm not letting anything happen to you." I say and kiss her hair... And that's a promise.
