Nightfall

The group of Poke-humans had managed to find places among the trees and along the riverbank to fall asleep. It wasn't really easy, but most of them had gradually fallen asleep. Marcy wasn't one of them.

She had been tossing and turning in the grass hoping to find a comfortable position, but nothing seemed to work. Now that everyone was asleep and things were starting to settle down her mind began to grow restless with thoughts of the Pinsir's group, Kaid, and her mother. "...Mommy..." She rolled over onto her side and poked Rowan in the side with a fuzzy paw. "Ro-Ro, you awake?"

"...Huh? Wha...?" The Charmander boy grumbled. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and met Marcy's pleading gaze. "Marcy?"

"Sing me mommy's lullaby for me, Ro-Ro. Please?"

"Uh..."

"Please? I can't sleep. I...I miss her. I miss mommy, Ro-Ro." Marcy said with a soft sniffle. She was going to start crying soon.

Rowan shuffled closer to her and placed a comforting arm around her. "Shh. Please don't cry, Marcy. I..."

"You don't wanna sing...okay." Marcy said sadly as she curled up closer to him. She shut her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder. "I'll try to fall asleep."

Rowan sighed heavily. He didn't want to see his baby sister sad. "Everyone I think is asleep right now...Hopefully no one will hear." He softly cleared his throat before quietly beginning.

Come and close your eyes, little Marcy,

Today has come to an end.

Lay your head in comfort as I sing to you this night.

Listen to this lullaby as you drift off to sleep,

And remember to dream of me.

Let your dreams be peaceful,

Let your mind be at ease,

Just know that I am at your side.

Listen to this lullaby as you drift off to sleep,

And remember to dream of me.

Rest now, sweet Marcy,

Let me sing you to sleep.

No need to worry or fear.

Listen to this lullaby as you drift off to sleep,

And remember to dream of me.

He could feel Marcy smiling as her being slowly relaxed next to him.

Be at peace, my little sister,

May your slumber be undisturbed.

May your dreams take wing as you rest through this night.

Just listen to this lullaby as you drift off to sleep,

And remember to dream of me.

Sleep, my baby sister,

I am always here for you.

Know that I love you, Marcy, never forget

As you listen to your lullaby

And dream of me.

Marcy's breathes were slow and even now. Rowan breathed a sigh of relief and shut his eyes, but he couldn't fall back asleep. "Mom could sing it better. Heck, mom could sing better." He mumbled to himself as he examined Marcy's sleeping being. "She used to look so much like mom..."
