Under the casino
Lucy was moving quietly through the hall with the other tailing her. Her eyes darted around curiously as she listened for anyone approaching them. She hadn't exactly planned out what she was going to say if they were caught. She knew they weren't allowed in this area, but there was a thrill of exploring the restricted and unknown that drove her deeper. "So, what are we looking for again?"
"Our trainer." Kaid replied as he motioned to Marcy and himself. "Wait, why is she asking? Your trainer can't understand us."
"She's just making conversation." Hunter explained. "She can understand a few things that I say to her like her name, but everything else I assume she picks up on based on my tone."
"That's kind of how we communicated with Tangie. We listened to his tone and--" Kaid's paw immediately clamped down on Marcy's mouth before she could say anything else. She glared at him for a moment before realization suddenly dawned on her expression. "Uh-oh."
Both Kaid and Marcy slowly looked over at Hunter. He had a brow raised, but he didn't speak.
"We have a Tangrowth on our team...uh..." Kaid was rapidly trying to come up with some sort of logical lie that would satisfy the Sneasel. Unfortunately, nothing was coming to mind. "Uh..."
"I'm human." Marcy blurted.
Hunter blinked before nodding slightly. "Right." He quickened his pace so he was walking beside Lucy. The Sneasel lifted his head up to the female trainer and mumbled something to her.
"Hmm?" Lucy peeked back at the two young ones. Kaid strained his hearing to listen to what she said next to Hunter. "We'll keep our guard up if anything happens, Hunter. We keep them with us for now."
"That hurt their trust in us." Kaid whispered to Marcy. "But what you said did work. Kind of..."
"Sowwy, Kaid. It was the first thing that I could think of saying."
"...I guess so." The Cubone nodded in acknowledgment.
"What does your trainer look like again? What were they wearing?" Hunter asked as he looked back at them. He sound even more skeptical than before.
"She was wearing a pretty dress." Marcy responded as she tried to recall what the lady looked like. "And she has black hair."
"Anything else?"
"...Her dress was red?"
"Anything else? Like a name? Eye color? Something that we could use to differentiate her from everyone else?" Hunter pressed.
"We just gave you some helpful details about her." Kaid groaned.
"Does she have a name? You haven't named your trainer. I've been using Lucy's name a couple times already."
"Her name..." Marcy quickly let a list of names flood her thoughts as she tried to give a name to the lady. "Mommy's name maybe? Maybe...No. Elizabeth? Katy? Allison? No. Those are my old friends' names. Gotta think of a name...uh..." "Haze."
"Are you sure? You didn't make it up right on the spot, did you?"
"No. Her name is Haze! Why would we make up her name?" Marcy said firmly. She'd never lied so much in her entire life and, much to her surprise, it was kind of fun. Of course, she wouldn't continue lying like this to Ro-Ro. She loved him too much to lie to him...plus, she didn't want to see him upset.
Hunter still looked rather skeptical as he stayed close to Lucy. He wouldn't start trusting them until they were out of the basement or out of the casino. Hunter almost reminded Marcy of Tangrowth, except Tangrowth was much kinder to her and Kaid.
