Following Marcy
Marcy was staring out the window as John continued to drive down the road. They were on the outskirts of the city right now with only a few more lights to pass. John was currently stopped at one of the stop lights.
She looked over her shoulder at Lucy, who was resting with her head on Malva's lap. She was sweating and panting heavily. "She's getting worse."
Hunter was beside her, gently stroking away any strands of hair that stuck to her forehead. He looked even more distressed than before. "Hang on, Lucy. We're almost to the hospital. We're almost there."
Marcy's ears drooped with guilt as she looked back out the car window. She didn't know what to say to Hunter anymore. He wasn't accepting any of her apologies, nor was he even acknowledging her anymore. All she could do was hope they made it to the hospital in time. "...I didn't mean to get her hurt."
Weston suddenly leaned forward as he narrowed his gaze on the truck across the street from them. It too was stopped at a red light. "Is...Is that a Hypno driving a truck?"
Marcy's ears suddenly perked up as she hopped onto the center console to get a better look. Low and behold, there was a Hypno at the wheel of the truck. "I know that truck and that Hypno. It's Grandpa Reece!"
"Huh?" Kaid looked over Marcy and spotted the truck. "...huh. Well, this is definitely something you don't see every day."
"That's definitely new. We'll get a better view in a moment." John said slowly as the car began to accelerate forward.
Marcy leapt to the back of the car and stood in front of the window. If Rowan was in the truck she would need to get his attention. The only problem was rolling the window down so she could call out to him. "Hey, Kaid?"
Following Rowan
Rowan was resting on the truck's bench seat as Grandpa Reece drove them into the city. Both he and the other Poke-humans were gradually nodding off, while the Pokemon huddled by the windows, watching as they passed by the outside world.
"This is really cool. It's definitely faster than walking." Xana beamed. "I can see why you humans use these things to travel."
Grandpa Reece chuckled. "It does make grocery runs easier."
"Why do you have to stop all the time?" Dex asked. "We didn't have to stop this much earlier. Do you have to stop ever so often while traveling through cities?"
"Kind of. It's because of the red lights." Rowan replied sleepily. "When the lights are red all the cars must stop. When it is green, we can go. Yellow is slow."
Dex looked from the passenger window to the windshield. The streetlights turned green, allowing their side and the opposite side to go. "I will agree, it makes traveling easier and faster...but the lights are annoying."
Grandpa Reece mentally agreed as he pushed down on the gas pedal. There were plenty of times where he saw the streetlights as annoying. Heck, anyone who has or had ever driven a car would agree. He lightly tapped the steering wheel with his fingers as another thought occurred to him. "Uri?"
The fire type looked over at him with curious eyes. "Uh-huh?"
"Pardon my asking, but who were the 'they' you were talking about back at the house? I meant to ask...but if this is a bad time, or if it is a sensitive subject..."
Uri was silent for a moment before opening her mouth to speak. "It's not sensitive at all. They are my--"
